      I spooled up with 65lb Power Pro and honestly never metered the amount but never came close to being worried about line capacity.

    Hello. Do you think a bigger handle from gomexus would be better? Or is the length big enough for pulling big fish in. I usually use a power handle.

      I actually really like the longer handle it comes with and the big round knobs are very comfortable

    Why is the 300 MD out of stock/not available anywhere? I've had one on order through Tackle Warehouse for about 2 months now, and their in-stock date is listed as February 24th. I spoke to some reps over the phone and they all had no clue when they will be getting any in stock.

    I have 2x Daiwa Lexa - they are great but the saltwater screws them up. Thinking of switching up.

      Any reel will be done hard by in Saltwater without proper maintenance. These reels have all of Shimanos tech to assist with Saltwater performance but you will still need to maintain them. Saltwater is a horrible animal. 😆

    Hi, is there any news about Shimano releasing lower gear ratio such as PG or HG for this calcutta 300/400 MD model ? Thanks. Cheers~

      The respective Ocea Conquest has lower gear ratios too, which I believe has interchangeable gears to this model. You could just swap the gears, but it obviously it’s just extra cost. Hopefully they’ll release a PG, NG and HG versions too at some point. I’ve been waiting for one too. This XG is just way too fast and lacks torque with big heavy resistance baits.

    • @vieterisikaFI

      Also I hate when you don’t get the big i-shape knobs in either lefty models, only those drawer knobs which are about the worst shape in handle knob. It’s easily gonna be an extra $100-150 investment to get the slower gear ration and the knobs from the righty models…

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors

      I spoke with Shimano and there are 4 screws on the palming side under the plate that opens but if you don’t have the proper tools be careful and consider properly documenting the parts as there is a spring under the plate hinge. Once out, the VBS section (black) comes out and allows access to the spool.

    Hello there,
    I have this exact same reel. Despite the fact that its new, the reel is very hard to reel in. Any idea why? Thanks in advance.

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors

      Hard to reel in? That is odd. Is the spool tension knob over tightened? Or is something misaligned with the spool and the braking? Ours is buttery smooth.

    • @yunustjajadi3773

      I tried to loosen and tighten the spool tension and drag but both did nothing. Can you please elaborate more on the misalignment of the spool and braking? I notice how easy it is for other users to reel in.

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors

      @@yunustjajadi3773 Is there a rubbing sound from the palming side? it's possible that a brake was pushed too far and is rubbing the spool cage. There are a lot of small parts to get the spool out so if you don't have a lot of experience working on reels I would suggest bringing it to an authorized service centre!

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors

      I disagree, I have all of the mentioned reels and Calcutta D and Tranx are no where close to the quality and performance of the Calcutta Conquest MD. Not in bearing count, drive train, torque, casting and drag performance or even rotational feel. Give one a spin for yourself to see. Yes it cost more, but it’s for good reason. I still use my Tranx 400 HGs but they do not perform as well in my opinion and from my experiences.
