Good catch! If it were me, I would do this at the end of the season, a few weeks before the pool is closed and no one is going to use the pool. To clarify further, we would suggest that you dilute/dissolve unused chemicals in your pool one at a time, with plenty of time in between switching to a different chemical. Depending on the amount of chemical and the gallons of water that you have in your pool, you are diluting it down to very small PPM’s in your pool.
Borates at 50ppm also help buffer the ph and allow for less chlorine.
