12:42 François Dubois’s "La masacre de San Bartolomé” is a detailed (and horrifying) depiction of the atrocity on the night of August 24, 1572. It Is now in the Cantonal Museum of Lausanne, Switzerland, where the artist had fled to from the insanity in his homeland. He died there in 1584 and, as it happened, on the 12th anniversary of the massacre.

Need to know more about the Huguenots before making an somewhat educated opinion In the interim, fighting over spirituality and murdering people for their beliefs is inexcusable
Of course the prior hanging, drawing & quartering of Catholics and the seizing their land and goods, and the thrusting of the survivors into penury was an act of Christlike love on the part of the Protestants. Can you seriously blame the Catholics of 1570 for being somewhat hostile to this new religion?
19 catholics priests were hanged by the hugenouts in Antwerp the month before. That didn't help the atmosphere. The hugenauts also had a 4,000 man army at Mons about 10 days march from Paris. Well known at the time. They're had been 3 wars between both sides in the previous 10 years. The conservative estimates of hugenout deaths on saint Bartolamow's day is estimated at about 850, but no one really knows.
Funny this WASP vision of the Huguenots, here he speaks of them as if they were foreigners to France. LOL Huguenots is just at that time the nickname given to the FRENCH of Christian-Protestant religion, and France is also their country.
