The inner light is actually your turning lights. If you turn the car with the blinker on that one side, it actually lights up and shines more light to that side.
That inner lens/bulb thing is for the cornering lights If im correct. As soon as you take a corner that light turns on.

great work! just as an FYI, the inner lenses that you blacked out on each headlight is actually not the "angel eyes" they are in fact cornering lights. When you have your headlights set to auto, when you turn left or right those lights will come on

9:47 It wasn't only the angel eyes bulb there. There was also a regular halogen bulb used as cornering lights (that also turned on when you backup)
You could do a projector retrofit there and have a quad projector bixenon setup, double low and high beams..maybe with mini H1 projectors..that would give you an awesome light output
I think it's worth it. It's one of a kind set of headlights and you out in all the work, so that's a reward in itself... 🤘
Great work man! Retrofitting can be very frustrating but the end result is always great. You made me nervous handling those freshly etched lenses without gloves tho 😅

The inner ring should have an H3 bulb in it(if you have adaptive lights) and then in fact the inner ring does do something, especially when turning at slow speeds.

side story I got $800 new hockey skates 2nd game guy went across the top and cut where the boot and laces met up a non repairable part. Bauer told me they couldn't warrant it but sent me to there repair tech he said if we repair it all were going to use is jb weld shoe glue. So I got some! jb weld is no joke strong stuff i put it over it and it fixed it and made like a protective layer over it. 4 years later no problems They make good stuff

Hi Devin,huge fan here. Not sure if you do have already, but I can provide you ISTA for BMW, is the official BMW dealer diagnostics. I have the latest version in full which you can also do diagnostics and also flashing/updating the firmware of the car like, all electronic control units.
If you want ISTA, hit me up and I can give it to you and also help you install it and go through the steps with you.

Just trace out the edges of that ring to a foil, then glue that foil to the shroud and baaam. You see where to cut.
