We were second in the line, when suddenly BAM the ride BROKE (this happened a lot while we were there - Thirteen broke while we were in the queue). We then had to wait A WHOLE FRICKING HOUR AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE. Luckily the ride was awesome.

The reason the music/SFX are so different is because this game was licensed by Sega of America ( via the Sega Technical Institute) and the music/SFX was held by Sega of Japan (Stuff like this is why Yuji Naka moved to the US ). There's actually an easter egg that replaces the menu music with Sonic's theme that made it into the final version.

I know it's been a while but... 54:50 a lot of your frustration around here is why you only flip one at a time; a lot of why you weren't going up the chute was because sonic was launching off the left one and hitting the tip of the right one, which caused him to lose all of his speed.
I know this is way late but i just wanna let you know that 90% of your frustration when it comes to aiming, especially in The Sbowdown is because you dont do the catch trick, it really makes it way easier to aim because its slower and also some of the flippers have markers on them that match with the board lights to tell you when to flip in order to hit certain targets This was my favorite game as a kid, i love seeing someone else remember it!

Yeah, that's pretty much my experience with this game, 2 hours playing, mastering every minigame, getting used to the janky physics, dying at the boss. Over and over. Still don't know what the victory screen looks like. :(

The reason everything looks so dark and gloomy is because it's actually based off Sonic SatAM, an awesome cartoon from the 90s that had a much darker tone than the game, and Robotnik was actually threatening and had pretty much taken over the entire world.

Am I the only one who got the following glitches? 1) Died while fighting Scorpious for no apparent reason 2) When getting to the robo boiler I couldn't even attack the robo head due to going through them
I have this on an Xbox 360 disc, along with 39 other genesis...mega drive games, and I would use only one flipper at a time, however for that specific game the control slightly lags so I always use both for fear of missing.
You know, I've never seen this game as being "too grim" or "too dark" for Sonic. The other games always show Robotnik as someone who either turns animals into robots or stuffs animals into robots (to power them or something?) and this game just showed a machine he uses to do it. I think it serves to make Sonic's heroism that much cooler in this game. :-) Maybe that's why I dislike the modern interpretations of Robotnik so much. He just doesn't seem as tough as he did back during this era.

It kinda shows them getting electrocuted in the process as well which is... weird. Plus the pallet choice for this uses a lot more darker or washed out colours. It generally looks and feels more murky in that regard which is pretty unlike Sonic (which tends to use lots of bright blues, greens and orange. Even when it uses grey it's quite a light tone)
the pal version got better music than the ntsc. Edit: I don't like the part where you say xyz sounds or looks weird. This is the best looking and best sounding sonic game. It's so fucking dark and brutal, and sonics animations are so cool it's insane. It's so damn good. If the jump n run games were like that, they would be perfect. They tried with mecha sonic, but they couldn't pull it off the whole game through, sadly... sonic spinball did, what all other sonic games couldn't.
