    Thank you Pam! This helped a lot on my first project! That last step with the color wash over the finished wood grain is KEY!! ❤️ I used 2 coats of matte water bases clear coat to protect the paint. You are the best!

    We are hosting holidays this year and out dinning room floor is huge and crusty old carpet. I'm pull up carpet and painting them for now but I think I want to try this technique around the perimeter of the room, as a large rug will cover the rest and its all getting tore out in 3 years anyways. Thanks for this video. Washing over it with watered down color makes it look natural and subtle. Beautiful.

    Pam thank you so much for posting this video. I'm redoing furniture for my daughter she is a student moving out for the first time. I started sanding the top of a dresser to find it was laminate!!! YIKES and the rest is real wood. I've done her side tables white wash. How could I do this finish to look like white wash? What would you use for colors?

    Thank you very much! I’ve been struggling with these training tools! Mine are a lil different not much. But yeah. It’s scary. I’m doing my mantle and it’s a box mantle that covers 1/3 of my fireplace wall from the late 50’s early 60’s. I have my Retique it on there in light wood getting ready to do my liquid white wood. Then blow dry it and gel stain. Do you have any suggestions for my big boxy mantle as far as patterns go? I know I’m going with the “grain of the wood” ie if it’s horizontal cut I’m running them horizontal same for the sides which are vertical. Would appreciate and advice you can give me. You seem to be expert level and a joy to watch! Have fun! It won’t let me post picture of course. But it’s massive and mid century modern. Please help! Your opinion would mean the world.

    Hi Pam! I’m a CA girl and I adore you! My question, I’m staining an IKEA tabletop. I have a base color of yellow (was told to do that). And I’m using a coffee stain on top, that I want to do the graining with. What stain color would you suggest on top of that? Like you showed us on your first example.

    • @PamHaskins
      @PamHaskins  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much!!! Do you want to use actual stain? Or paint to look like stain?

    • @danahobelman1240
      @danahobelman1240 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pam, well I solved the above issue. I used ivory silk spray paint as a base. And then honey wood stain. Did my wood graining. Looks good but Id love to make it a little lighter. More golden. Should I just paint on another lighter wood stain over it? And then a sealer??

    • @SuperSmoovy

      @@PamHaskins thank you for the quick reply. I have a graining roller and didnt try it. When I originally got it, I didnt have instructions on how to use it. I can always try that. I'm finding my paint dries so fast with the glaze.50/50 Liquitex medium glaze. I have re-base coated my piece 3 times to try to get better graining. I'm using a paint that has a primer built into it. I guess that's all my home depot sells

    • @IKatchSkams
      @IKatchSkams 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SuperSmoovy I love Home Depot. I like a paint called, "BEYOND PAINT"...
      It's also an all-in-one-paint. It does come in sample sizes. Sometimes this paint is hard to find in stock.
      Second recommendation is (the one I found on amazon) "Microblend". It is an all in one paint + primer. It is an interior & exterior 100% acrylic. Sample sizes are 4 fl. oz. and runs about 3.99 ea. I bought 7 to try out different graining techniques. I like doing 3 colors to get a more interesting look.

    Hi Pam! I’m so glad I found this video. I am going to do a bar height table from an old antique wash table that has fold down sides. I think I’m going to use driftwood as my base and buy a graining tool and pull through gravel road on the top. What color would you suggest to lightly paint over the wood grain once I’ve completed that? Also would gator hide be good since I will be using the table to use for the finish? Thank you and I am a Pam too LOL! I was thinking maybe a like coat of dropcloth after the wood grain what do you think?
