There are some sleeping little house audiobooks on here for that! She’s very soothing. This one is equally as good but you’re right! It’ll wake you up with a start if you fall asleep
My daughter loved these books... We went on vacation one year to Yellowstone and as a surprise we stopped off in DeSmet S.D. We spent the whole day & we toured the places Laura lived .. And the house that Pa & Ma lived in most of their lives... We saw the homestead where they lived in a shanty & the huge cottonwood trees pa had planted as sapplings... They were over 100 yrs old when we were there .... She still has the pictures and memories from that trip... That was 30 yrs ago & she has teenaged boys today. Last summer I took my grandsons on a trip retracking our steps & taking pictures in the same spot my daughter had stood .. I didnt think they would be interested in Laura Ingalls history , but I was wrong... My oldest grandson said , we read all her books & mama loved the prairies ... So we went ... It had changed a lot , but still the same really... We took pictures in the surveyors house & the Ingalls homestead , ect... I made an album of out trip & gave it to her for Christmas .. She wiped away tears when she saw her sons were in the exact spot she stood in , 30 yrs earlier...
I read this to my children50 yers ago, they read it to their children and now my grandchildren are hearing it. But I love this Cherry Jones voice and am happy to listen to her any time of day. Thank you.❤
I can see you're a great dramatic story reader. I was a story reader at a kindergarten last year, I wish I found you at that time. I could learn a lot from you. It’s still enjoyable for me now to listen to you.Great Job!!
I have a friend at work who told me when we first met that she was from Walnut Grove and when as a child they went to town it was a trip to Mankato. I was like, OMG- like Laura Ingalls! She laughed at me but bought me a tee shirt from the university there when she went home to visit her dad.
Laura Ingalls Wilder goes into such detail about food and house wares. I think thats indicative if not having much and deeply appreciating what they did have.
@@susieglenney Me either! Especially after about a year ago when she did a live reading and I asked her a simple question and she literally bit my head off in the most rudest way ever! I couldn’t believe it! I’d listened to her for years, bcz there was no one else at the time reading the Little House books on TH-cam. And not to be mean but seriously, who wants to see a bunch of tattoos on top of stretch marks and cellulite. I shouldn’t say that but it’s true. 🤷🏻♀️
@@Nana_Reads I agree! As a kid reading these books, I would wonder if it should be pronounced “sluff” like the word “rough” or “slew” as you said. Drove me batty! lol

Thank you for this.❤️🙏🏼
She is a wonderful reader but if you are looking for a bedtime story, her expressive style of reading and the music may wake you up again.
We listen in the car
I love Cherry Jones’ narration
Yeah, the singing is pretty bad

Excellent. You love your dogs. Midnight, in living room with four of seven dogs. Almost cried when Jack died. Thanks.
Great read.

Imagine quilting a perfect blanket but your blind?
Um the name Docia is pronounced Doh-shuh … not doh-see-uh lol
I’ve heard it pronounced both ways….kind of like toe-may-to
toe-mah-toe
I thought I’ve heard her called Aunt Docie sometimes too
What bothers me the the word slough ……. Should be pronounced slew when referring to a small body of water

I know someone with the same spelling at they say say it the Do see a way too
Ma wouldn't let Laura hang around with Lena because she was too forward. Not ladylike. Lol
Please stop the singing and fiddling!
