Sailing on Elation in September. Have sailed on the Ecstasy a couple years ago and the ships are quite similar. Very much looking forward to it!

Great tour. We were last on the Elation pre-drydock, so this is very helpful to see what has changed and what is the same. Like you, we can live at the Alchemy bar. Cheers!
This made me smile! Especially since I go on Elation next month and when watching the ride down the slide I saw my last ship Horizon! I went on Horizon in March! I love cruises!!!

Jan 21- 2023 we sailed our 10th cruise on the Carnival Mardi Gras out of Port Canaveral. It was a 7 day Eastern Caribbean- I was very familiar witht the ports. My perspective going in was the destination was the Ship! Well- it turns out, I was not Wow'ed by this XL vessel. We had an Interior in Havana/ they updated the plugs and plenty of outlets- but shrunk everything else. -- We have sailed on: Freeddom once, Miracle twice, Breeze twice, Vista Twice, Magic twice and now Mardi Gras. We started cruising in 2012. We have made the voyage across the Pacific to Hawaii and up to Alaska.- - - The Mardi Gras as a new ship was built with materials that will not survive without frequent dry docks. The lido pool deck has several locations of damage and patching. The stalls in the rest rooms are out of true and the quality of materials there have gone to durable tile to glued up hard board panels. They put Guy's on Deck 17 above the lido, supposedly to give it more space. They actually had to do that because on that XL ship the Lido is very small- there is no Room for guys, pool-side. The same for the hype that Mardi Gras has Red Frog Tiki on two decks.. but no Iquana and the area for the pool deck for the Tiki is also very tight. There also is No Red Frog Pub. They did give the Flavortown more space and that seemed to double as the sports bar too. but- That gave it the impression of a lack of investment on Carnival's part. The older ships are held together by quality materials Now, - - Here I am, looking at Carnival's Oldest ship (Elation ) and I am feeling that "first timer's" sort of happy. The ships larger than Vista may appeal to Blue and Red Cards- but Gold and Platinum may want to trend back to a place where there may be less Bling for paid dining- but more pizazzze in guest to crew interaction. A smaller cruise community experience on the smaller ships. Many Carnival enthustiasts lament the loss of the ornate in the build of newer ships. The ships are becoming Mall-Like and Marriotte Hotel'ish. The Mardi Gras has a theater, it's adequate- but most of the shows are on their Grand Central stage- and the site lines are not the best, in the upper viewing area- the sound system gives you a Charlie-Brown in the Classroom echo, blah- blah -- have no idea what the lyrics are. My experience in a grand theater- even without digital enhancement for presentation- much better audience experience. And that is what brings me to cruising. The guest to crew interaction, the cruise community engagement, the Wow factor of the main atruim, the dining that feels like a real restaurant and not like a diner. I think Jacksonville will be my next cruise port.

Just got off the Mardi Gras and have the elation booked for July 4th! This will be our 2nd time on the elation and I’m looking forward to it.

Excellent video, good that you post the menus (many v-bloggers/youtubers don't). We are going on the newly refurbished Carnival Radiance in Feb 2022. I am hoping it has a similar look/feel to this ship. No vacation for 2 years, be like a kid in a candy store when we are let loose onboard...

There is no cost to go to the piano bar. My favorites at the alchemy bar are: deal closer, Island old fashioned, youthful and bold beritini, French Kiss

I'm going with my mom, uncle and aunt for a cruise on the CARNIVAL ELATION in June 2024. It's my very first time on a cruise ship, so I wanted to see a review (or two) on it.
Got an inside cabin on Deck 7 just aft of the funnel.
Great video! I'm about to go on this boat in about 2 weeks with 2 other people. Though the cabin we have looks very similar to the one you have, except there will be 3 of us. Not sure how that is going to work. Hopefully they put an extra bed in ours haha.
I think the cabins with 3 or more guests, the extra beds are bunk beds that lower from the ceiling (I think)
Have they done any upgrades to the Carnival Elation?

I'm going on car voyation on April 3rd
This will be our first cruise with our sons as teenagers 17(senior in HS) & 19(frosh in college) we have 2 Bahama island stops and 1 day at sea. Any recommendations for us with being a family of 4 and those age young men. Anything on board packages u recommend?
This is a vaccinated December cruise, masks in certain areas. Will an at home test be taken for the COVID testing?
The major on board package is the cheers beverage package for alcohol but the teenagers won’t be old enough for that. I would look at excursions in the ports of call that fit your interests
I believe there are some at home Covid tests that are accepted by carnival Cruise line, not sure which brand of test though.
Can you tell me if there was a Halloween party or a costume contest???

Anyone have any pics of the grand suites extended balcony cabins? We are booked for January 17th 2022 in cabin U90 crossing fingers that even happens now.
I am sure it’ll probably happen, but I have no pics of the suites (we only tend to show where we are staying)
So weird seeing that tiny lounge after having cruised on her multiple times with the older, larger lounge. Often, that larger lounge was at capacity for comedy shows, so I can't even imagine how crowded that new, tiny lounge must be. I guess Carnival just wants to keep cramming cabins anywhere they can to get more revenue, even if it keeps making the ships more and more crowded and less pleasant for customers. The Elation had been our favorite ship so far even though it got noticeably more crowded after they added the cabins on deck 14. Now with even more cabins and a lounge that's 1/3 the size, I'm thinking we may have to find a new favorite ship.
I am surprised that Deck 15 is still empty though. I was certain they were going to move the Serenity deck up there in the last dry dock. There were lots of rumors about that last time we were on board (pre shutdown).
It's a crappy ship.
How do they deal with someone getting Covid? Are they quarantined and others notified?
I am not sure how that works.
We are about to sale on elation in three days I don’t see any hot tubs.

I didn’t see anything like that on this cruise myself. With it being an older ship, some sections did have a sewage type smell, but didn’t last long
I have been on 2 other Carnival ships that had sewer issues.
do people who have the cheers package and paid gratuity usually tip when they get drinks all day?
I do usually tip for each drink in addition to the automatic gratuity that is on the package, but it varies from guest to guest.

Nope, either one is acceptable

What date was this sailing? I am going Nov 22. I don't see a lot of people wearing masks, that's why I ask.
Oct 25 sailing. For our sailing masks were required only in certain sections of the ship (casino, shops, theater, entering the dining room or buffet)
@@IntheLoopPodcast We were on that same cruise. Minor engine trouble caused us to leave Amber Cove an hour early. There was a wicked storm later that evening, then the engineers fixed the engine problem. Nevertheless, we had a great time!!

did you guys have a captains dinner??
I am not familiar with the term captains dinner. There is a chefs table experience that is an upcharge dinner experience and there is a formal night in which the dinner menu is nicer than normal.

This was one of the worst cruise ships I've sail on last week... ship smelled like serwer gas. Got to my room same smell coming from the shower drain got my room changed bathroom still smelled funny but delt with it. The ship was so rocky over the smallest waves food was sub par. If it wasnt for the nfl playoff and having the drink package I dont know what I would of done. If ur traveling from a far distance I suggest finding another ship. Not worth the travel for this small old ship
Every Carnival cruise I have been on has had sewer issues. Not a fan of Carnival. Usually go Norwegian or Royal.
