1:17 This is basically me trying to speak English, but with th sounds (which I don't have in my native language). It's really tough to actively remember and then execute what you're supposed to do with your tongue, mouth and vocal chords (especially when you don't do it regularly). That's why phonetics is a big part of studying languages, even though most courses seem to focus on grammar and vocabulary.
Yeah, I think that that's one of the weirdest sounds in English. Especially because it's actually two different sounds (voiced th and voiceless th). I'm a native English speaker and I legitimately didn't know they were two different sounds until I took phonetics last term. That being said, I wish you good luck in your attempts to produce those sounds!

I think I have a good idea on how to produce them (the voiced th is kinda like a vibrating "v" sound, and the voiceless th is kinda like a "soft f" sound made by blowing air while your tongue is between your teeth), but doing that actively (and correctly) is a different story (I feel kinda silly when trying to do that, especially when it comes to putting my tongue between my teeth). I'll keep trying, though :)
Learning new sound components really is one of the hardest parts of learning to speak a new language. I'm a native English speaker, and had a hell of a time working on the high back of throat, nasally sounds (-ão) in Portuguese when I learned.
@@thecomorbiditycurator8018 Oh, Portuguese is my native language! Yeah, those nasal sounds (like "-ão") are probably the weirdest ones Portuguese has; I don't even know if any other language has something similar. I've heard stories of non-native Portuguese speakers trying to pronounce "pão" (bread) and ending up saying "pao", which sounds awfully similar to "pau". "Pau" literally means "wood" or "stick", but it's also a (rude) slang word for "penis" (so you can imagine the kind of trouble you can get yourself into by mispronouncing it, especially if you're trying to buy bread). I hope that doesn't happen (or hasn't happened) to you (at least now you've been forewarned, I guess)!
@@pedrostormrage that was one of the first "pronunciation life lessons" my professor taught the class, actually 😂. That and the fact that not all Latin based languages share the same Latin roots or connotations ("preservative," a chemical food additive, in English is VERY different from "preservativo" in Portuguese 😂😂😂😂). I worked really hard on those nasally sounds. It paid off because I made all A's in my 3 years of coursework and became the president of the Portuguese language club at my University for a year. I was going to minor in it, but had a discrimination issue with the department head and unfortunately had to drop it. It's such a cool language. It sounds both mildly aggressive and entirely chill simultaneously. Not many languages can pull that off.

This game is a perfect example of what I’m like when talking to people. Only I’m falling apart on the inside and no one notices. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA comedy.
Having had speech therapy I can say this is 100% accurate.
Kevin, your videos could be full movie length and I’d still watch them. Don’t worry about how long they are, I enjoy having entertainment for long periods of time, especially from my favorite Kevin!
