I agree! My own rule is that I never buy the same product twice. This helps me budget better and whatever duplicates I get, I will sell them as singles or as lots. Once I opened all the product that I can that is related to the set, I will then buy singles so I can complete it in a more cost-effective way! :)
Keeping in mind what do you want now versus what do you want most? Keeping in mind profitability versus how you like to collect. Selling singles has worked best for me finding lots and listing individually.
100% agree with you buddy - for collecting effectively and efficiently - buying singles is the way to go. Not opening any packs (while maybe not as fun) is definitely the most effective and cheapest way to collect!
Another downside of pack opening in North America is that they don’t even bless us with booster boxes for the most desirable sets. So if you really want that crazy modern Charizard you’re going to have to buy ETBS & collection boxes which are probably the least profitable way. At least in Asia you can buy a booster box of Shiny Star V and the starting MSRP isn’t through the roof like NA.
I live in Shanghai and can get boxes for about £55, so I open a lot and then send them to be graded. That's another option to do, although you have to be comfortable having the money tied up for a long time
I recently got back into it after probably 15 years without buying any Pokemon cards. Started watching youtube vids and buying Vivid Voltage packs myself. I just feel that it’s dangerous, I open 10 boosterpacks at a time and I want more. So I’m quitting and I’ll appreciate the cards I have. Hopefully. It’s so expensive!
Great video! I started doing the same thing and its so much more cost effective. Only negative i see about your video is that you are talking about your shop and not linking it in the description :D
I went down that path too! The reward isn’t worth the cost per say. But like you i do still love opening packs with a limit!!! Then from there I’m enjoying keeping sealed product on display :).
There's already video of Shining Fates ETBs being opened. I saw 2 be opened, and the dude didn't pull a single Shiny V. He got regular shinies and 2 full art trainers, but let's be honest, we're opening Shining Fates for the Shiny Vs and Vmaxes. I have 3 ETBs and some other stuff pre-ordered at GameStop, but after opening those I am just going to buy what I'm missing. Also, no Marnie Full Art in Shining Fates. RIP.
I spent 250€ on vivid voltage packs, and found an amazing rare, 5 v Pokémon,a bunch of worthless holos, bunch of rare non holo, reinbow worthless Pokémon, almost worthless item and 2 almost worthless vmax, I was very disappointed :(((. Buying singles ist just the best value option
There's usually 2-5 cards from any set that I want and I couldn't care less about the rest. Battle styles is a great example- I'll pick up nicely centered copies of the empoleon alt. art and the gold houndoom from ebay- maybe I'll grade them- and then I'm done. There's no way I'd pull those cards if I bought and opened a booster box.
I agree, i've spent about £4000 on hidden fates tins and boxes since realease, I still need 17 shiny vault card :( i'm just going to buy them as singles now
I don't really have disposable income so over the year or so that I've been back into the hobby, I've only bought modern AT retail, Yes it's exhausting especially missing hidden fates this week to scalpers when I've been preparing, but it's better overall. And one day when I make money or have more disposable income, I plan to invest and collect singles for master sets and whatnot!
I’ve opened 200+ HF packs and haven’t pulled any of the cards I really wanted in my collection Espeon, Umbreon, Charmander, Charizard or Charmeleon 🥲 no more packs now, I’ll have to buy the cards
Yea I’ve bought waaaaaayyy too much champions path, just looking for two cards, with no success lol I have 5 cards left for my master set, so it’s time to buy them
@@PokeJebel I have 7 cp etb that I'm holding onto dearly. Luckily for me the set is not very fun to open. As for vivid voltage, it's worst than caffeine. Soon my shining fate pre orders will arrive. Save me lawd!🙏
Ya, I like the balance of both. Open a box for the experience and understanding of the set, and buy singles for value or collecting. The good and bad of youtube is some TH-camrs seem to have insane pull rates, but I can definitely relate more with the bad pulls xD. I mean I opened a couple Champions path because and I was like maybe I will finish a basic set (not even master) and I realized lowest possible way for me to complete the set without an error box was likely 3-4 more etbs...which was way more than just buying the singles. I calculated vivid voltage booster boxes might have the best pull types to msrp value I have seen in a while, but even that I purchased essentialy all the predicted pulls from a guy for less than half the boxes msrp
Hahaha yeah some TH-camrs seem to always pull stuff but remember the bigger youtubers get sooooo much product. Yeah the cheapest way is always to go the singles route!
When listing an item on ebay. Do you use ebays $4.00 Standard Shipping cost for one card when using Pirateship? I am concerned ebay will charge me $4.00 for their shipping label when I don't want to use theirs.

This is best way ! I just buy singles . It’s economical.
Yea im gonna start buying singles too man i spent 80$ on packs n literally got complete shit
@@JoebsonOSRS yeah, opening packs is fun but just gamble. Buying singles is better for investing, you have more money to spend on right cards 🙌🏻

Straight out bought 3 maximum gold blues eyes for $60 instead of gambling $100 to not even pull 1.
Great video dude! Bang on with everything here, open one or two and then set collect with singles. You'll never be disappointed 👌🏻

Yeah my issue is that PSA market is going to be saturated as helllll soon and it costs a lot of money

I lived and learned this as well. dropped too much money on boxes but it was fun! Now i'm just going the sealed product/singles route
Great video! I started doing the same thing and its so much more cost effective. Only negative i see about your video is that you are talking about your shop and not linking it in the description :D
Hahaha I’ll put it in next time!!
Brilliant narrative, really enjoyed your live stream last night. Thanks so much.
Appreciate you man
I buy singles for the cards I wanna collect and I buy booster boxes to collect and keep unopened.
I went down that path too! The reward isn’t worth the cost per say. But like you i do still love opening packs with a limit!!! Then from there I’m enjoying keeping sealed product on display :).
Great video! So useful. How do you figure out the percent rates of getting certain cards for other sets to figure this out? Wikia?
There are some people on Reddit who open thousands of boxes and post the pull rates. It’s a group of people who pool together their results

Even tho the yt scene is saturated, I still wanna try to start making content and a sealed product just works the best
Lmao I didn’t even realize the marnie was that rare until like month after a pulled it

Ouch, that sucks. Sorry to hear that!
Nice vid I would like to see the math behind other booster boxes as I know I’ve got burned on a few
yup i buy singles and some sealed product for my collection that stay sealed :D
I'd say just buy a couple of boxes for the fun and then after that buy the singles you want. A middle ground :)
Perfect way to approach it. I could have bought the card I wanted for way cheaper than all the packs I opened.

I buy packs because i love the feeling of pulling the card i buy vs just buying it xD, but always do what works best for you c:
Does shining fates jave charizard v and vmax or just vmax?
I think just VMAX
Love your videos.
Question 🙋♂️: I have a chance to buy a vintage 1st edition Charizard, how do you tell if it’s fake and not get ripped off?

I couldn’t tell you, I’ve been off of eBay for a while now and I know they’ve got some new way of shipping TCG cards
Stocking up on SHINY STAR V!
Gonna sit there and tell me Aussie land has no gambling problem and we got Maxmoefoes out deeeeer
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have terrible luck so I prefer to buy singles
You were so close to saying "lost in the sauce"
sadge
Your camera seems more pixelated than ususal though

What is your eBay
www.pokejebel.com
Next you can upgrade your webcam XD
No worries Poke Mountain. I have a ton of disposable income after bills and investing. I’ll still be a booster box purchaser 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
