    Love Brothers K. Read that book two times. For me, it was page turning, like War and Peace. But I read it some time ago. Now, mostly, I am interested in modern classics, wondering about Zeitgeist of our time.

    I've been so hesitant to try out one dark window series because I'm not a romance reader but you convinced me to give it a try that the romance isn't the main focus!

    I need to read the Idiot, I have only started it. I think my favorite Dostoyevsky was Crime and Punishment so far, but I have loved all the ones I have read. But Crime and Punishment was the one that I flew through and really got sucked into.

    I'm reading 'The Square of Sevens' by Laura Shepherd Robinson. 18th Century Bath, Red is a fortune telling card reader, it's easy enough to get into, not far in, to know whether I'd recommend it.

    I have seasonal depression in autumn and winter and I still love it 😁 No one else here in Norway loves it though 😅 A daylight lamp has helped a lot this year though so it’s even more magical.
    I love Chrisrmas too and has begun watching movies. Also decided this year someone has to be the first Norwegian to host Thanksgiving so I’m doing that too next week. We adopted Halloween, might as well do the one that has family and food at the center. I’m done just being jealous every year 😂

    You must’ve watched Benjamin McEvoy, because the journaling part sounds exactly like something he would say. Haha- I really like watching his videos.

      Didn't she say that the guy she was referencing wasn't a Booktuber though? I mean I know Ben isn't your typical Booktuber, that's the part of You Tube he fits in to. Yes he's more scholarly and keeps the majority of his stuff behind his Hard-core Literature Patreon book-club, but I still think of him as a Booktuber who sits further along the intellectual spectrum of serious studying! 🤷

    • @jgatsby22
      @jgatsby22 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I don’t know if I would qualify him as a traditional ”.booktuber” either. I feel like he’s more of a person who loves literature and likes to talk about books. And help people also come to love great literature as well. He’s very informative and I enjoy watching him.

    • @jgatsby22
      @jgatsby22 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, I went back and watched his video on the Brothers K, and he did say in there, aside from the journaling part, that Dostoyevsky had the characters sort of sit in for different philosophies so that’s why I think she was referring to Ben.

      I've gotten to the point I'm really struggling too. it started off so strong but the back half has been really tedious.

    I've read all of Dostoevsky's big books except The Karamazov Brothers which I listened to on audiobook, the only audio book I've ever listened to of a book I had not read previously. I've also listened to Crime and Punishment and Notes from Underground but did so after having read them and really enjoyed both. I might listen to BK again but I don't think I'll ever read it
