- Tributes continue to pour in for former first lady Barbara Bush, who died Tuesday at the age of 92. Now TODAY’s Jenna Bush Hager, shares her very personal letter to her late grandmother. Speaking to TODAY by phone, Jenna says family members are experiencing “waves of great gratitude for a life well lived” mixed with “pangs of sadness.”

I am watching this tribute to Barbara Bush for the first time as my own dear 92-yer-old father passed away on April 19, 2018, and I was unable to truly grieve with the nation that same week. Thank you for featuring Jenna's letter and the flood of memories of our First Lady, America's Grandmother-in-Chief.
I always thought of her as Mama Bush. She had that air about her. She served us well as First and Second Lady. She served her family well. RIP Barbara Bush. You are a great lady.

Your grandmother was by far my favorite First Lady ! She just was so real and came across as just another person trying to do her best at the job she had to do. You were so lucky you have her as a grandmother and we had her as our First Lady. God bless you and all your family. Never cared much for her after that remark which showed a lack of compassion and empathy to me

Consider for a moment what many of those people led by the self pronounced "chocolate mayor" did to her son who bent over backward and did his best setting new records for disaster relief only to be severely maligned by them. We all wish we had a grandma like Barbra. I had one and she died in 2005 Alzheimer’s. What a beautiful person.
