  • After reading a brief description of the Devil's Tooth in a 1933 MCSA journal entry we knew we had to go check it out.
The Banhoek Conservancy has a couple of rugged mountains with various routes ranging from walking and mountain biking to climbing and abseiling.
Our route started in the popular Duiwelskloof. where we headed up a loose gully towards the neck between the Devils Tooth and Hutchinson's Peak. The gully towards the neck involves scrambling over loose mossy rocks, navigating around some small waterfalls and pulling yourself up on a steep grassy slope. At the neck we traversed out left, moving around the tooth in a anticlockwise direction. At the front of the tooth there is a easy grassy break leading up to a big cairn and from there a couple of nice steps and cracks, (one or two C grade) will take you to the top. The summit is remarkably small and is quite unstable. Views are outstanding.
