i actually found an issue doing the textured sky method, the clouds would look brighter than usual and you would be able to see the sun/moon through the clouds. To fix that, simply decrease the sphere's render depth.
There are two options on items when locking stuff. Resize and stretch. If you want your (rotated) items to scale in the right direction, you should pick stretch for all and adjust everything
