This video comes from a place of loving the show and the universe that Taylor Sheridan has created but definitely noticing that the past few episodes have seemed to have lacked the clarity and direction that we've come to be used to. Are you enjoying Part 2 of Season 5? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
I’m with you. It’s become a hot mess. None of the characters are behaving in the way their character has been developed to behave. Kayce pointing a gun at a child? Beth being the calm, sane one? Colby doing the dumbest amateur cowboy shit that he knew would get him killed? This show is unraveling.
With the unanswered plotlines, scatterbrained writing, rushed ending...Game of Thrones is EXACTLY the comparison I've been thinking about while watching this last season!
I've got to agree with you Sarah was taken out cheaply should have been left to Beth, john death feels half arsed no retribution Kayce jumps in the back of the guys car and talks sternly because of Indian black magic, market equity unscaved wasted 2 episode watching cows and horses, Rips done nothing about anything and its blame Jamie for everything, john was the glue that held it together it all seems rushed with out john no one knows what to do, Kevin Costner is missed
I think Taylor Sheridan is stretched too thin. The guy has damn near a dozen different shows on the network that he’s working on with a very similar formula and structure.
It’s ridiculous that Beth wouldn’t start doing the meat processing that she mentioned at the end of the first half of this season to top it off why wouldn’t they just say John was stuck at the capital or put him in a coma or hell why would we be expected to believe that John didn’t have plans in place in case he died. He was planning on keeling over in the first season for Christ sake. This seems like Sheridan didn’t really have a plan here for the end of the
@@tarn1135 Sheridan hates Costner. Legitimately hates him, but also he can't really do anything without costner to parrot sheridan's own beliefs, the other actors won't take his crap
Ego’s got in the way or Costner would still be here. The show misses him taking charge. Colby was unnecessary and every time I watch a rerun I will think of him dying. The cowboys being a part of saving the ranch could have been huge!
You could see the writing on thew wall at the beginning of the episode where he and Teeter are getting all lovey dovey. I was expecting it at that point.
A couple of things that are just my opinion. 1. I feel like the rushed conclusion reminds me of the Game of Thrones rushed, unsatisfying conclusion. 2. Colby’s death shook me and seemed unnecessary. Why did it have to be a longtime major character. Maybe it was just for shock value. 3. I would have been ok with Josh Lucas (the younger John Dutton actor) taking over for Costner. I mean I know he’s not Costner, but I think he could have been believable in that role. 4. I’m anxious to see what, if anything, happens regarding Clara’s and Lanell’s conversation after Clara quit the new governor. I really hope something significant happens because of it. I’ve seen so many interviews with the actors saying they think the ending will be satisfying for the fans. Guess we’ll see.
Yes, I'm so happy you mentioned Clara, and how Lanell told her she was not currently subject to an NDA. I keep wondering when she is going to go tell someone something... But then what does she actually know that could be of help? I hate all of the plot holes, and hope this isn't just another.
this was such a pointless thing to show the viewer. The cowboys in Yellowstone are pros. This kind of death would NEVER have happened. No pro would have allowed to this situation to happen.
It’s just the end. I felt the same way about BB final season. Storylines felt rushed or weren’t addressed at all. All my favorite shows feel that way at the end.
It's too bad!! This was the best show Taylor Sheridan had going. I like quite a few of his other shows. But YELLOWSTONE was the best. I think he's too focused on his other shows other shows I'm not giving the attention Yellowstone needs period And I think he's still a little bitter with Kevin Costner and we're seeing it come out in this season. Costner was a co-producer and he didn't even know how he was going to be killed off!
Some good points here. Yes, they could have milked the Sarah and Beth confrontation more, and it would've been very good. Given that there were only a couple episodes left though, they had to kill her so that they got to show that Jamie is part of all of it. Completely agree on Colby. It was cruel to do to the character and to the audience. Pointless. I also can see that there is more filler in, particularly the beginning of last episode, with the ranch, etc., and the Cowboys. With so few episodes left, they should be nonstop jampacked with important things to further the plot. Having said all that, once I fast-forward through the filler of the spinning horses, I have really enjoyed the last couple episodes. I thought it was very good . I also would like to see a spin off with the remaining characters. I think everyone wants Jamie dead, but if they do a spin off, you always have to have the villain. I would agree, though, and particularly that I think Bentley is the best actor on the show, by far, the tension with all of them is enough already and we should just have the satisfaction of his death, whether through Beth or Casey or Rip. They can get a new villain for the spin off if there is one. And totally agree that Costner is the heart of the show, and it is a real loss that they could not come to an agreement for these few episodes to bring this in for a landing. But, I think the investigation of his death and everyone's reaction to it has been interesting and the next best thing they could do under the circumstances.

I can definitely see where you are coming from. The distinction between present day and the flashbacl could have been telegraphed better. Overall I can see the potential underlying pathos or thinking might be to just drown viewers with the bleakness of the situation and that it can be hard to accept the deaths. Two were targeted and Colby's comes off as that freak death like the death of John's wife. Having the deaths ahppen so close to each other makes the writing feel a bit forced but in the context of a larger season if Sheridan handles it right it can highlight that life is burtal and even when you have a clear obstacle to tackle you can get sideswiped by something comepletely random and unsatisfying. Kayce's characters glimpses in the long earned stabilization in his family life also points to what all this suffering is worth the price. I'm glad Kayce is getting a stronger story this season as the last season or two left him in the background priority wise.. I hope Sheridan find a blanace though with the ending which is something he is usually good with. Sheridan doesn't always give you what you want but gives you something engaing and thought provoking. I hope some part of the Yellowstone survives. Maybe Rip and a few of the cowboys find a way forward. The pressure caused by John Dutton's homicide investigation may also help turn the tide back in the favor of the Duttons and the Ranch. I am just glad the show came back at all and look forward to pretty much anything Sheridan related as his character work is often dialed in well. Lioness is a good show and the Spinoffs are amazing continuation of th ethos of Yellowstone and Im glad were are getting beautifully written and shot tv

pisses me off that Sheraton didn’t really care about the fans of Yellowstone! That’s why I really don’t want to get into more of his shows that he writes and produces. I just feel they need to let it go on a couple more seasons, so maybe the Dutton can be triumphant of saving their ranch.
Yea, I'm not even looking at the new one (Landman).... with 1924 still out there somewhere. Feels like there's too many irons in the fire, and getting invested in anything new doesn't interest me.
The world will never forgive Costner for this (or for Waterworld). It breaks our immersion in the worst way possible by forcing us to acknowledge that he is just an actor. Unforgivable.
It needs another season ..Costner and his Horizon series..like so many great shows something like.Costners selfishness ruins it all and a hurried wrap up let's the fans who have faithfully watched from day one are the ones let down..
I theorized that Kevin must of left cause they actually didn't have a clear picture of how the story would end and there was conflicts there Also the real question is, if John Dutton stayed on the show,How would the narrative story of ended? Thats what makes me think they were just winging it this season with no solid plotline
Costner left because Sheridan kept delaying 3 different times the start of shooting 5B. Costner had other obligations he'd have to juggle and rearrange, and he finally said, hey I can't do this, I'm obligated to his other project Horizon. He explains in an interview that is here on YT somewhere. When Costner was free, he let Sheridan know, but the guy said, nevermind, we're good. Essentially. But have to say, as I recall, going back to S1, a big theme was "were the kids, the next generation ready to run the ranch?". I think John was originally going to die of the cancer after S1, but it became so successful Sheridan asked Costner to stay. As I hear it anyway. So that was the theme that they went back to, I guess
I think Beth killing Sarah would have been too obvious. I also believe that Rips continual reminiscence of the cowboy life was further explored, and proven by the death of Colby along with the shooting of the stallion. Symbolic of that way of life vanishing. I really think they are setting this up to having the ranch given back to native control except for the area of KC’s new home.
I think if Jaime goes to jail, then it shows Beth trying to keep his mouth closed with all the Dutton secrets. Season 6 ( if there is one ) will explore that issue. Kacey's character will move on, and Beth/Rip will run what's left of the ranch with a connection ( maybe partnership) with the 6666 ranch as it will soon have its own show.
like game of thrones and many more, shows are rushed to the conclusion for the sake of a business move. Its super unfortunate for the fans who invest their time and essentially making these ppl all rich only for them to bail on the project. We are all such suckers.......just like all those ppl who tuned in to watch the tyson fight. ppl got played and they got paid. american ppl are being drained of cash while they hoodwink us and run off with the bag.
TS is the problem...he struck lucky, likely hugely lucky, the studio wanted more and he just couldn't keep everyone happy. he's happy though...he made a fortune.
Think there’s been a problem with the writing that’s kinda been shown. Just moving from one big bad to the next. It’s got a little GOTs to it. This group is after the land, then this developer, then that developer, then this hedge fund. Just recycling. Costner could have been written out, he’s sent to billings, gets into plane crash, then the vacuum it leaves.
I don’t feel it was as bad as dexter or game of thrones, but it was a disappointing season and finale. Actually I always thought that that the show didn’t develop its greatest moments properly and was many times predictable. I mean, if you start looking at past seasons, check out how many episodes start of “f with the same kind of montage. So without costner things went from bad to worse in my view. Such a shame, it had a great potential and the ending just had no weight
The editing is all over the place and I agree that the 6666 scenes feel pointless and disconnected from the main Yellowstone story we’ve come to love. So disappointed thus far.
@@myoechester2027Oh was Horizon bad. I wanted to see it but it just it came out in the summer and I don't want to watch a movie in the summer. Too much to do.
@LLandS18 it was a jumbled mess of storytelling and was universally hated by everyone as a boring piece of garbage only somewhat salvagable by kevin being in it. The storyline was clearly meant to be one movie, but kevin ballooned the cast so much trying to do his diva shit of "oh, it has to be done my way" that it became a pile of crap 4 part movie series, even the actors blatantly hated it. Lost him over 32 million and he still has to pay back over 100 million out of pocket costs
I'm not going to be violating my non-disclosure agreement but if Thomas Rainwater is in Scottsdale on the next episode and he's at Westworld and if he's looking at the horses from the Dutton Ranch.... well let's just put it like this we've been more than lied to we've been played. just giving you a heads up. we were filmed because we were a vendor. we have to keep our mouths shut. let's see how next week plays out
The time jumping back and forth for recent timeframes was horrible. No continuity. The amount of time spent on the four 6's was also a detriment to the Montana plots. I was expecting more from Beth, Jamie, Kacey, ME interactions.
It could be that Jamie comes clean. That Sarah acted outside of Jamies knowledge. The accusations against him gets dropped, and he reinstates the things John did before he died.
@@geekat the thing is that sheridan loves making a coward and target of jamie, and the fandom hates him too... for just trying to be helpful in non physical fights and being abused mentally by both his sister, father and brother. Genuinely I can't think of a time jamie was evil in such a way the others weren't. As others have said, selling part of the ranch would have been fine as the area they were selling was filled with sage grass, a toxic grass that is unsuitable for feed. It was john's stubborness and feelings of duty that prevented him from taking the deal. And Jamie was right that market equities will take the land one way or the other--and not even being a political elite will stop them. So I think they're setting up the obvious choice of having jamie take the fall and have beth coerce him into suicide to show "what a selfish coward he was"
They should’ve have just toughed out recasting John Dutton, I think the actor that played young John would have made it viable. Deal withe awkwardness of switching out a lead actor for the sake of great storytelling
Taylor Sheridan stretched the seasons out way too far regarding release dates. Also I think he has himself spread too thin with so many series. Yellowstone built up a large following and TS is not showing respect to his shows fans
Beth out of control and over acts her mannerisms. She acts like she is so tough but she has major daddy issues. The young girl still crying out in a woman’s body
Ok, I did not watch Yellowstone when it began, actually started watching Season 1 episode 1 on November 30, 2024: I binge watched every episode of every season through Season 5 Part 2 Episode 12, SO I’m I’m hooked & all caught up. I’m glad I didn’t have to be hung on cliffhangers each week & through the longer down times of the lockdown & actors strike, that would have been rough having to wait. Surely Taylor will not kill Beth off, she’s way too much for the show to lose, I can see Jamie being killed off. I can also see either another season &/or a spinoff of Beth & Rip living in a beautiful place away from the family ranch home after they sell off some of Yellowstone & her invest into a luxurious tourist destination while Rip brings back a smaller herd to keep the family tradition going. Maybe Kacye & Monica to have another child to pass the family ranch down to their children along with Jamie’s son. I’d like to see the estranged maternal grandmother be written in; storyline of her choosing to leave after her daughter’s untimely death, the grandmother coming in a wheelchair but tough, sassy & lots of deep soul, kind of like Beth, giving the understanding where Beth gets a lot of her passion.
Beth has become unbearable. I'm so sick of hearing her rant about Jaime or show up and punk Jaime. It's gotten so old. Almost once an episode she says something like "leave Jaime to me" and I just cringe.
I totally agree that it feels like there is not enough to sufficiently finish the show in just 2 episodes! I love Yellowstone and the spinoffs, and the whole point of all of it is this family fighting the whole world to keep this olace, and now you have 3 remaining Duttons amd none of them want the ranch. It feels like whay was the point of any of this. Its dad to see such a good show go bad so fast.
I never knew Taylor Sheridan before this vid. I always found his scenes to overemphasize the importance of his character. The direction, acting, the close-ups on his face. And now I understand. Its not the character who's important. Its the actor. Or maybe this is the character that would be central to a spin-off.
With two episodes to go, I don't understand what you mean by Sarah being killed was way too soon. Colby's death was unnecessary. We've been trained over the series to know how dangerous being a cowboy is, but specifically at Yellowstone. I think the last death we'll see is Rip killing Jamie. He said he might have to and don't put me in that position back in season 2. I also think that Beth will not sell the ranch, honoring her word to her father, but giving it to the tribe with the written understanding that the ranch will live on as long as a Dutton is around, rendering the land untouchable. I don't know, something like that.
@davidp4350 Well, Tate is half Indian and Kayce has a good relationship Thomas. I think they could all come to an arrangement that works for everyone. Thomas gets the land, Kayce/Tate gets the ranch, Beth doesn't have to deal with it anymore and be free of the ranch, she keeps her word to John. I suspect Rip will stay on but not sure about what direction Rip and Beth are going. Idk, just a thought.
The pacing is terrible. Only 6 episodes after two years damn near? I figured it was ten episodes. How theyll wrap all this up in two 45 min episodes is beyond me. A disservice to the fan base
It just seems like he is dragging it out. After waiting 2 years and so much Hype I expected a lot more action. Which I hope the last two have more action and less filler I mean they are only giving us 48 mi. or so per espisode so get on with. I do not want a season six it is time to focus on the earlier years like 1923
It is true there is about 48 minutes per show, but that just the commercials for Sheridans other shows. We aren't getting very much of the show Yellowstone. I am so glad I never started watching anything else that Sheridan is involved with, never will now.
Too much Beth. Too much time spent on uninteresting ranch details. Too much product placement and cross-promos. There's about 10 good minutes in every episode of S5, P2. Very dissappointing.
It was complete and utter trash. The most predictable boring drawn-out story a drunk 3-year-old could have made up. I'm glad this BS is over so my wife can't force me to watch it anymore.

It needs another season ..Costner and his Horizon series..like so many great shows something like.Costners selfishness ruins it all and a hurried wrap up let's the fans who have faithfully watched from day one are the ones let down..
Horizon was good but even that felt a bit confusing! The montage at the end really caught me off guard
I theorized that Kevin must of left cause they actually didn't have a clear picture of how the story would end and there was conflicts there
Also the real question is, if John Dutton stayed on the show,How would the narrative story of ended?
@donnaramos-2bgr8srv Yeah that was the official Story yet who really knows
I guess the moral of the story is if you throw enough bodies into a gorge, you will live happily ever after...........Horrible Ending.
John Dutton will return in the last episode, everything was orchestrated to expose the alleged culprits. It's the only way to save this series
I agree! I don’t think it’ll happen now but that’s the only redemption of this show at this point.
That would be a shocking twist!
Interesting theory!
like game of thrones and many more, shows are rushed to the conclusion for the sake of a business move.
Stupid to lose Costner!!!
Yeah it was such a shame. I wish they could have worked something out
Yeah i was a great lead, only Beth kept up with me, I’m the Goat!
Costner was being his diva self and wanted to do his shit movie rather then be working for sheridan
Jamie is a total wildcard he is such an idiot, hoping his character was a little more clever and had some type of toughness.
Beth needs to go.
Yes to New York and make a secret visit with Caroline.
I'm not going to be violating my non-disclosure agreement but if Thomas Rainwater is in Scottsdale on the next episode and he's at Westworld and if he's looking at the horses from the Dutton Ranch.... well let's just put it like this we've been more than lied to we've been played. just giving you a heads up. we were filmed because we were a vendor. we have to keep our mouths shut. let's see how next week plays out
I don't agree. It's been fun and entertaining. Sure the last two will really deliver the climax needed. Not having Costner was a big mistake though.
That's fair enough!
@@BrainPilot I also enjoyed season 8 of GOT... Lot of others didn't!
The Taylor Sheridan guy seems to be the issue....
1883 was amazing
Yeah it's one of my favourite shows ever!
Sadly it seems that Yellowstone will have a very forgettable Game of Thrones ending?
How tf do you fumble such a great show…
I think the behind the scenes issues just got too much!
The time jumping back and forth for recent timeframes was horrible. No continuity. The amount of time spent on the four 6's was also a detriment to the Montana plots. I was expecting more from Beth, Jamie, Kacey, ME interactions.
💯💯💯💯💯💯
So I think they're setting up the obvious choice of having jamie take the fall and have beth coerce him into suicide to show "what a selfish coward he was"
I still root for Jamie
They should’ve have just toughed out recasting John Dutton, I think the actor that played young John would have made it viable. Deal withe awkwardness of switching out a lead actor for the sake of great storytelling
Damn good idea.
@SW-pm3lsNo that would have been stupid. You can't replace Costner with an imposter
I feel so cheated that Beth didn't end the person who arranged her fathers death.
I know what you mean!
@@BrainPilot If Beth takes Jamie to the train station, I may get over the disappointment. 😃
This show fell off after season 3. Seasons 4 - 5part2 have been nonsense. I have seen the Jamie and Beth fight scene 7472&474 times.
I love Yellowstone but I don't like the way it's going down.
Taylor Sheridan stretched the seasons out way too far regarding release dates. Also I think he has himself spread too thin with so many series. Yellowstone built up a large following and TS is not showing respect to his shows fans
They might as well have just cut to black like sopranos ..
The actress that played Sarah is now on Lioness another Taylor Sheridan show
Very bad director or whatever
I totally agree that it feels like there is not enough to sufficiently finish the show in just 2 episodes! I love Yellowstone and the spinoffs, and the whole point of all of it is this family fighting the whole world to keep this olace, and now you have 3 remaining Duttons amd none of them want the ranch. It feels like whay was the point of any of this. Its dad to see such a good show go bad so fast.
At least Tate didn't tell his parents to get a room every five seconds in the last episode...
Haha, that's true!
I never knew Taylor Sheridan before this vid. I always found his scenes to overemphasize the importance of his character. The direction, acting, the close-ups on his face. And now I understand. Its not the character who's important. Its the actor. Or maybe this is the character that would be central to a spin-off.
I think the show is better in this season without Kevin. The political story was getting boring!
That's fair enough!
Lack of substance nails it!
Beth should have beat her first
With two episodes to go, I don't understand what you mean by Sarah being killed was way too soon.
How does Beth do this when the ranch is left to Tate and Kayce is the executor of the will.
It's a real shame! After five seasons you'd hope that we would have had more!
1923 is better than 1883
Bold statement! I definitely preferred 1883
@BrainPilot 1923 is more realistic and down to earth. 1883 was kind of over the top
It just seems like he is dragging it out. After waiting 2 years and so much Hype I expected a lot more action. Which I hope the last two have more action and less filler I mean they are only giving us 48 mi. or so per espisode so get on with. I do not want a season six it is time to focus on the earlier years like 1923
Yeah I think 1923 is the time to focus on now! Expanding on the journey of the Duttons in Montana
It needs to end the show it’s losing it’s thunder
I'm really disappointed
There's definitely something lacking this season!
It was complete and utter trash. The most predictable boring drawn-out story a drunk 3-year-old could have made up. I'm glad this BS is over so my wife can't force me to watch it anymore.
There’s no action! It’s so boring now!!! So disappointed.
Spinoffs were better than Yellowstone
1883 was absolutely incredible!
All of this is a problem. Its like Vince McMahon is writing this shit.
