She made her own name and the money that came with that, he made his money on the backs of others work, what is more respectable? He tried to trap her into making music for him, she was too smart for that though and re-recorded her albums making what he owns worth much less. Also, in the end he will be at best remembered as a villian and more likely will be someone no one will remember, and Taylor will always be a legend that everyone remembers.

If someone buys your masters for hundreds of millions of dollars u can’t just go out and remake the same songs without their precision because it’s THEIR intellectual permission.. it doesn’t matter if she wrote the songs or not, she wouldn’t have the legal right to recreate them (the same way I can’t recreate a Taylor swift song and sell it online)
The contract, Just like a patent, no one is allowed to recreate it, till a certain time has passed. In her case, the "permission" came 2 years after she left the OG label. But because she is the writer, she no longer had to ask them if she could do it now after that time of waiting had expired. She had now every right to do it without their input.
In terms of who won... Well, by her rerecording she is attempting to devalue the worth of the OG albums... Which to some extent she has managed to do... As someone mentioned somewhere, if you have the artist who has the music and you have the other owner of the OG, who are you gonna do business with? The artist who can give you future new songs or the owner of the OGs who can give you ONLY the ones that already exist? Also let's not forget that SHE has veto power over the OG songs as the songwriter (which was a clause in the contract she signed all those years ago), which means EVEN if they talked to the owner of the OGs for the rights to a song for a project SHE could very well say no, and they won't be able to use it. That is how from 2019 'till THIS day you have not heard any of Taylor's OG music in movies, TV series, etc, which was common throughout her career. (The ones you have heard recently are the Taylor's Version).
Add to that the massive fan base who is supporting the whole thing and allowing her to somehow reclaim her own music.

Would like to add the recent comments from Lupita N'yongo that prove the veto power comment I made. the *producers* asked the label for the rights to the song and were denied. Lupita then wrote *directly* to Taylor and explained the *importance* of that song to her and the rights were immediately given. So yeah they might own the OG masters but they cannot profit from them without Taylor's permission *obviously this ONLY applies to the use of the rights, streaming /buying are a totally different thing*

The deal Taylor was offered for her masters was 300 million$ + 6 new album under the label for the first 6 albums. This didn't allign with Taylor long time vision to join bigger record label.

Well Scooter Braun is the one who sell Taylor Swift's 6 albums which she was in Big Machine Record until 2018 her contract in Big Machine Record was expired. In Republic Record allows her to owned her albums, Lover, Folklore, etc. and of course her 6 old albums which is named Taylor's Version. Taylor did the right thing to bring back her masters.

the documentary tried to villainize Taylor and victimize Scooter. If this had been any other artist, no one would have batted an eye. It's Taylor who, through years of not keeping a sensible distance from her fans, has created an army of parasocially obsessed, militant pawns who are all too eager to fight her battles for her. Like Nicki Minaj and the Barbz, the Swifties are a problematic fandom who should be criticized when they act in this way, and the blame shouldn't be placed on the victims of their onslaught.

BUT Taylor using her Master's saga and turning around the expected losing battle was a Big DEAL in the Music Industry. Actually, the attorneys in the documentary said it was a normal NDA that would not have prohibited her from speaking about him. That being said, this was after she sicked her fans on him, and he and his wife and children started getting death threats. He reached out to Taylor out of fear for his kids' safety, and she did nothing. I'm sorry, but a mature adult does not remain silent when children are being threatened.
Taylors dad was an investor of Big Machine records. He was aware of the Masters being up for sale. Big Machine offered them to her to purchase but she declined, she wanted them at a discount and believed she was entitled to the discount for making the Record Label so wealthy.
All the board of directors members were under non disclosure agreement so Taylor dad skipped the meetings so as not to be forced to keep secrets from Taylor. He did earn 15 million $ after sale , but he skipped the meetings.
Also Taylor wanted to change record lables for long time , when big machine offered her the catalogue, they asked her to record 6 more album under the label.....🥱
Swift's father Scott was one of the label's minority shareholders (4%), he did not join the call due to a "very strict" non-disclosure agreement. - Google
He was not present but was aware and had legal representation during the meeting. Lawyer provided detailed notes of what meeting was about. To claim her dad and/or her where not aware her Masters were for sale is crazy.

If the whole thing a strategy to get the rights to masters, it was brilliant. Taylor signed away rights with her first contract. Years later fully realized what this means. She wants the masters and wants them under her terms. So schemes and connives to get them and in the process attacks the Scotts and harms their reputation. She doesn’t have the masters, but finds another way to sort of get what she wants from it. If this is true it is very unethical. She would be behaving in manner accusing others of doing. The TS plan to bring down Scooter (why, IDK) and get the most from the situation borders on diabolical. So what to believe? Did she just outwit and outplay slimy greedy a-holes at their own game? And if so,is it something to be proud of?

That's just common sense, even Miley Cyrus has talked about how she was taken advantage of by Disney because she was too young to understand, to the point she was getting paid the least for a while, so yeah, it happens, her art is her life, there is nothing wrong with wanting that back, she wasn't offered her masters like he claimed, not really, she was told she had to release 6 albums under him if she wanted it, that's what is manipulative, Scott took advantage of her and Scooter saw an opportunity to make more money, in a way I'm glad it happened (that she rejected that unfortunate deal) because it lead us to her re recordings and vault tracks which many of us love, I do not agree with death threats, though, but even if Taylor were to say to her fans to stop, the truth is some obssesive people will still do it, that's just a nasty side of fame.
So you really think after watching this that what she did was right. It shows how mad she is, and that she doesn care who or how many live she destroyed. I thought this documentary showed how scary she was.
