2 weekends ago, I lost the use of my hands. I'd od'd on stitching goodness and couldn't thread a needle anymore. You saved my sanity. I've been watching your archives to keep from pulling my hair out. Today I log in, and see this lovely project. I'm not quite back into fighting shape, but have added another St Brigitta's cap and now a veil to the queue of projects that must be done. I will be saving this video to my stash of stitching inspirationals. The crisis though is that I'm 2 weeks behind, so I may need to get back to this in about 8 months. TLDR: Thank You for another lovely video. I case of the dissapearing veils is truly a Sherlockian conumdrum. Your cat may know where they are. Hugs!

Even though I love medieval clothing, I only have made a shift until now (which is super comfortable and definately part of my daily wardrobe). I just bought a set of pins from your ko-fi shop so I guess I finally have to make myself a kirtle and veil now! One of the reasons I like the period is the elegant headcoverings, I really like having fabric on my head somehow. So thank you for giving me a super cool way to wear my veil once I've mad it!

@@OpusElenae Mine were from Sweden, Norway, England, and the Netherlands. I’m so pale, that you can literally see all of my surface veins. It actually came in handy when I was in the emergency room two weeks ago with a stomach bug. Made it so much easier for the nurses to draw blood. I’m better now.

Is it period to piece an oval veil to your knowledge? Hoping to use medium scraps of linen discarded from my day job. Was thinking that sewing them together on the bias would keep the drapiness and minimize attention to the seam.

Pre-modern people had glues too, hide and fish glues, etc. But sometimes beads were friction fit or soldered too.

oh using wire is a good idea, I'm allergic to nickel (and most modern hairaccesories give me sore spots on my head).
Oh no! These stickpins are silver plated, but you can definitely get silver, brass, or copper wire and just use that instead!
Using wire or pins of a safe material is definitely a good idea for you!
I've made things like earrings and necklaces before, but never pins. I think I might have to try this at some point.

Very curious to know why the nasty glue is worth using despite the fumes. Is there nothing less nasty that will work??
It’s an industrial strength glue so it has the most strength. You can use superglue instead if you like, but use the gel instead of the watery type.

To my knowledge, no. But we don’t have many extant pieces, so there’s not a ton of evidence.
