Grinding is a process of removal by abrasion. People were grinding stone tools long before the discovery of glassmaking.

This is fun, but can get incredibly tedious. 100% recommended if you want to have a professional-looking piece of glass, though

do you always want to wet-sand glass? I'm trying to get glaze off of a ceramic tile, and it seems like wet-sanding works. am I on the right track?

No you will dull the finish.used a pumis.
