Are we allowed to penetrate pre installed websites on Metasploitable machine? I think it doesn't require permission because they are already in the machine and can be accessible via IP address. If it is, what do you suggest network protocol for those websites like muttildae, dvwa, etc. Should we keep it NAT or change it to "Host Only" (if yes, then why?). Thank you
Permission should be agreed upon with the owner of the website/machine, if YOU are the owner of the Metasploitable machine that's hosting a website, then no problem, you can do whatever you want to your machine, now special configurations needed. However, if it's someone else website do not attempt anything.
