The disappearing fursuit must be super common. There are so many suits featured in various different people videos titled like Most amazing fursuits or Most out of this world design where you see a fully made suit likely displayed by the maker and then you never ever see it anywhere ever. And no one can find out where these most amazing creative insane productions ended up lol.
one thing i hate is when someone buys a premade from you ( that you have just spent days weeks making) and then they just distroy it. or then decide to sell it on for more money than what they paid for it. :(
number 9 is honestly 99% of why I'm making my own suit... I dont post pics on social media, at all, since i left social media to be present in the real world. I wear the premade i bought to events and festivals, but not really for pictures. Maybe that'll change when it's my own sona, but i just feel bad. If you want pics and to see how it's doing, please ask for them, for real. some of us just aren't online people :(
I've had most of these... I had one particular one which was a "dragon" for a little girl. The she gave me 3 different looking refs and gave me artistic liberty for it. She got a head, (dinomask base), feet, hands, and wings for just under $400. Her mom then gave me an extremely poor review and wanted a refund because it wasn't perfect. I offered to change it and fix anything for free and she said no still.
Tbh if/when I do order a fursuit I'd only be worried about it not looking like the character, I personally love the imperfections, it's what makes them even more unique.
add-on to number 6: i saw people stealing designs and post them on raffle posts. they’re very crunchy and theyre always from a very recgonizeable designer
The short time I have been watching people on the amino I have seen a few people asking for a fursuit for amino credits which is basically them asking for it for free.
@@Pancakeboii What? They said that some people faked cancer as an excuse for a free fursuit, I wanted to know if anyone has ever asked them the same thing except with covid as the excuse.
I see alot of free to use bases for ref sheets and I began to understand why they trace it,usually the lines are too thin to color or mabey hard to see
I find it insane that people still think its ok to ask some one "hi can you do this for free?", "its so expensive why cant you do it for free?!" your wasting the artists, makers time and its supper rude. Also I am really enjoying your video's keep making people smile.
10:15 i used to use free to use bases when i just wanted to get the colors and markings down for a character, and i have had to trace some because they were simply not compatible with the art program i used
10:30 see I use ibispaintx and basically when it comes to free bases it's not transparent so I need to trace the lines but I also keep their logo or the personas name in the base
I made a 70s style fursuit head, tail and paws. It cost not much, just about $200. It took me a hot minute and when I gave it they said they didn't like the style, thought it was asked for
When I was the school mascot in highschool (basically a cheap full body fursuit) and they had a full vest MADE OF ICE PACKS to keep me cool along with the head fan. I wonder if I would be able to find something like that to wear in a proper fursuit.
i trace f2u bases sometimes bc i just want the lines to match with the extra stuff ill add uwu, i always credit tho never say that im the artist when im clearly not (my art is shitty thats why i use bases qwq)
I'm a fursuit maker and one of my classmates is a furry No one really talks to me and I kinda have no friends But the only reason this guy came to talk to me is because I made fursuits to make it even worse he asked me if I can make him a free one I was pretty mad-
The only time I would trace a F2U base is if there is no transparent version and I can’t find a better one, but I’ll still credit the original artist. That, to me, is the only way to make it somewhat acceptable (unless they say not to trace it, in which case I just can’t use the base). It’s obviously not perfect, and I really wish that base artists would just post the transparent version without the white background so I could actually use it, but what can I do about it?
Question- If I used a free to use base to make a oc (cuz I suck a drawing animals) and gave it to a maker to make a fursuit out of it, would they decline and say “No, I can do that because that’s someone else’s art” or would they make me a suit? I’m only wondering this because a found a free base and simply just retraced it (to make the lines bolder) and colored it and now I want a fursuit head of it.
A lot of makers will actually encourage you to use a free to use t-pose base because it's he clearest and easier to reference. Any maker who shames you for using a base is shitty
@@wonkasfavorite That’s the problem tho- I made the character ( My profile pic ) and a couple days later I saw someone with very similar markings as mine but the only differences is that mine a white heart on the back of his brown ear and mine has the teal nose and toe beans
Note on number 8: I've had this happen before with parts that I was asked to make, but someone once asked me to make a bodysuit to go with their matching head and offered to send me swatches of the furs they used and everything, but the reference they sent me was WAY too complicated (as per how it goes), being a super small underground maker I offered to remake their ref sheet more fursuit friendly for free (because I'm personable like that, obviously I don't do this anymore and sadly have to punish the whole class because of this one person), they were SUPER cool with that so I spent days remaking this 3 angle ref sheet, they were super communicative the whole time telling me what they liked/didn't like or what parts of the design they wanted to keep etc, and after I sent them the digital file for their FREE ref sheet they discontinued the conversation and I never heard from them again. 🥴 I can only imagine they took my beautiful free ref sheet and commissioned other art with it because I never EVER saw it again. I was so heartbroken over my hard work (at the time) that I took it off my social medias. Super sad deal. I think they just wanted a free ref sheet that wasn't drawn from a base. I had in my bios that ref sheets come with the suits I make because I was trying to promote my artwork as MUCH as possible. I don't care as much now lol, if someone likes my stuff and wants to talk about it that's cool but if not I'm over here doing my own thing for me. Taking commissions proved to be so much of a hassle that I only do gift artwork or stuff for friends and family now. 😭
amazing editing job, gosh Neffy (I've never seen this suit before clearly I'm missing out on good stuff) your suit looks so cute and smiley and bright. Your guys's suits go together so well with Skye's lighter design and Neffy's darker, brighter design. Wonderful video
Im in and out of the furry fandom alot, so when I saw Neffertity my brain went to work to figure out who they were, I knew the name so well, but it was on the tip of a braincell lmfao I knew the moment I looked their name up
I would love to see air conditioning in fursuits but there are lots of problems involved 1, size 2, weight 3, noise 4, power 5, cold air distribution 6, hot air dissipation 7, unit placement
Probably the best you could do is a moderately powerful exhaust fan on the head with hidden vents lower on the body to draw cooler air up through the suit and exhaust warmer air. Or hide something like a papr in the suit's design. With either one battery weight would be the limiting factor.
2 awesome makers with awesome tutorials. Also when are we gonna see Skye’s new head in videos? I always change my ref when anything (even small stuff) changes.
I think people trace free-to-use bases because they don't have the right tools to just color it in as it is or maybe they wanted to make a change that wasn't on the original one so they traced it.
Thankyou for sharing, I have been a hardedge model maker for film/TV for many years and decided to make a fur suit as my first foray in to costuming. Australians are familiar with the kangaroo from the movie kangaroo jack as that is what my design is based on. Wondering how people in the community view a fiberglass head base rather than using foam?
sometimes (and when i say sometimes i mean maybe once bc im a lazy artist just tryna get a pattern down) i trace free to use bases but still always trace the credit and their stuff, usually just bc a lot of them arent transparent or dont translate well or are really low quality so i just trace the lines and tbh its way easier than trying to color on the same layer, and it just looks bad lol like u can clearly see what was added
about the tracing the bases, a while ago i did not know how to insert a base so i would trace the base but still give credit to the base maker and then colour it, but now i have learned how to insert a base
Excellent video! Also could do with a "10 things fursuit commissioners should do" sequel video to this, like research faux fur colour availability (spent a year tracking down the exact AliExpress listing for the specific colour of my fullsuit), be involved with the shaping process by providing suggestions on how to achieve out-there ideas (ie: sketching wing mechanisms and such for the fursuit maker so that they have a better idea of what functionality you want), and most importantly: *don't nag.* Fursuits take time to be made!

Rando: You look like Telephone. Neffertity: WELL DO YOU HAVE EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
number 9 is honestly 99% of why I'm making my own suit...
I offered to change it and fix anything for free and she said no still.
for under $400??? what a steal, genuinely?!?
Tbh if/when I do order a fursuit I'd only be worried about it not looking like the character, I personally love the imperfections, it's what makes them even more unique.
there is something beautifully hilarious about having people rant and rage and the suit head is just 😀
The excitement in Neffertity's voice at the beginning makes me happy to :3
Right at 3:57
*perfectly cut off scream*
At least for me, because an ad came directly after and I burst out laughing.
Are you using a headphone mic inside your suit head? That’s such a good idea, I always wonder how suitors get clear audio
I think the best offer I've ever had in return for a fursuit was a sentimental plushie. Unfortunately I don't think they were joking haha!
add-on to number 6: i saw people stealing designs and post them on raffle posts. they’re very crunchy and theyre always from a very recgonizeable designer
15:15 I can relate to that. There was this customer who would not answer my messages for days and I have never seen that suit sense...
16:33. yall know she serious when she break out the angry eyes
Yay you did a collab with Neffertity! I love watching both of your fur suit making vids!
im so happy my two favorite fursuit makers are doing a video together!
I have to be honest I don't know who any of these people are
Not_moxy seems ligit
The short time I have been watching people on the amino I have seen a few people asking for a fursuit for amino credits which is basically them asking for it for free.
Ruffled feathers and salty sky
This is them combined I love this
Idk how y'all do it, but you both and all fursuit makers have my respect!!!
Have you guys had anyone use "covid" as an excuse for a free fursuit over quarantine? Lol
Bro what the fuck-
@@Pancakeboii What? They said that some people faked cancer as an excuse for a free fursuit, I wanted to know if anyone has ever asked them the same thing except with covid as the excuse.
@@sawtoothbobcatwerelynx9129 im- dude thats so fucking stupid
@@sawtoothbobcatwerelynx9129 i feel bad for anyone who had to deal with someone like that
@@Pancakeboii Yeah, those people are so unempathetic towards actually hurt people yet expect you to feel bad for them. 🙄
It’s why I ask for business cards when I can’t afford at the moment that way when I save up I have the information I need to try and commmision
I swear when neffertity said DO YOU HAVE EYEBALLS that killed me
I wonder what would happen if these two (the best fersuit creators on earth) made a suit together 😳😳🤯🤯
Who else busted out laughing when Neffertity shouted "DO YOU HAVE EYEBALLS?"
10:15 i used to use free to use bases when i just wanted to get the colors and markings down for a character, and i have had to trace some because they were simply not compatible with the art program i used
Two of my favourite furries /makers in one video =^)))))))))))))
Double the love
Thank you so much for including my wonderful friend Neffy! ^_^ a wonderful video and some wonderful info. ^_^
I'm a fursuit maker and one of my classmates is a furry
No one really talks to me and I kinda have no friends
But the only reason this guy came to talk to me is because I made fursuits to make it even worse he asked me if I can make him a free one
I was pretty mad-
I haaaaate my style being compared to other’s styles! HAAAAATE.
I’ve gotten all of these things (except DTDs) as a comics artist.
The only time I would trace a F2U base is if there is no transparent version and I can’t find a better one, but I’ll still credit the original artist. That, to me, is the only way to make it somewhat acceptable (unless they say not to trace it, in which case I just can’t use the base). It’s obviously not perfect, and I really wish that base artists would just post the transparent version without the white background so I could actually use it, but what can I do about it?
if you use ibis paint you can import the base into it and select "clear white" so u get a transparent version
THESE ARE MY TWO FAVORITE FURSUIT MAKERS I LOVE YALL
The adds kept cutting off every time neff screamed or screeched and I can’t get over how it cut her off 😂😂
Question- If I used a free to use base to make a oc (cuz I suck a drawing animals) and gave it to a maker to make a fursuit out of it, would they decline and say “No, I can do that because that’s someone else’s art” or would they make me a suit? I’m only wondering this because a found a free base and simply just retraced it (to make the lines bolder) and colored it and now I want a fursuit head of it.
A lot of makers will actually encourage you to use a free to use t-pose base because it's he clearest and easier to reference. Any maker who shames you for using a base is shitty
as long as its 100% free to use and the colors arent a copy of someone elses character, go wild!
@@wonkasfavorite That’s the problem tho- I made the character ( My profile pic ) and a couple days later I saw someone with very similar markings as mine but the only differences is that mine a white heart on the back of his brown ear and mine has the teal nose and toe beans
@@JustaEquestrian0091 i mean, no ill intentions? accidental copies can happen, as long as it wasnt intentional you should be fine tbh
@@wonkasfavorite Yes it was accidental
03:56 aahhh~ that's so funny!
Neffertity is do funny like you just,
I can't say anything😂😂
I never thought my two favorite makers would be in one vid!!!!! Awesome!!!
amazing editing job, gosh Neffy (I've never seen this suit before clearly I'm missing out on good stuff) your suit looks so cute and smiley and bright. Your guys's suits go together so well with Skye's lighter design and Neffy's darker, brighter design. Wonderful video
I LOVE how neffertity just said "I Just WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH"
and also... a customer i had was a friend of me and she asked me for a free tail and i said no and she was like PLEEEEAAAAASEEEEEE we are BFFS
Im in and out of the furry fandom alot, so when I saw Neffertity my brain went to work to figure out who they were, I knew the name so well, but it was on the tip of a braincell lmfao I knew the moment I looked their name up
Yo congrats to me for my 2 favorite fursuit makers doing a callable!
I would love to see air conditioning in fursuits but there are lots of problems involved
1, size 2, weight 3, noise 4, power 5, cold air distribution 6, hot air dissipation 7, unit placement
Probably the best you could do is a moderately powerful exhaust fan on the head with hidden vents lower on the body to draw cooler air up through the suit and exhaust warmer air. Or hide something like a papr in the suit's design.
With either one battery weight would be the limiting factor.
(this is my opinion btw) Not to mention, when people say something like “ oh that looks nice but if I were you, I would do this” well, are you me? No
No dislikes. Keep it that way
2 awesome makers with awesome tutorials. Also when are we gonna see Skye’s new head in videos? I always change my ref when anything (even small stuff) changes.
I only use Free to use sheets for my fursonas i dont change colours at all i colour it all white if its coloured so then i can make my own fursona.
Such a cute duo! Hard to not smile watching you two :)
Rewatching this video after spending WAY to much time on Skye's website I'm so glad she's addressed almost all of this on it.
Wondering how people in the community view a fiberglass head base rather than using foam?
sometimes (and when i say sometimes i mean maybe once bc im a lazy artist just tryna get a pattern down) i trace free to use bases but still always trace the credit and their stuff, usually just bc a lot of them arent transparent or dont translate well or are really low quality so i just trace the lines and tbh its way easier than trying to color on the same layer, and it just looks bad lol like u can clearly see what was added
about the tracing the bases,
a while ago i did not know how to insert a base so i would trace the base but still give credit to the base maker and then colour it,
but now i have learned how to insert a base
Excellent video! Also could do with a "10 things fursuit commissioners should do" sequel video to this, like research faux fur colour availability (spent a year tracking down the exact AliExpress listing for the specific colour of my fullsuit), be involved with the shaping process by providing suggestions on how to achieve out-there ideas (ie: sketching wing mechanisms and such for the fursuit maker so that they have a better idea of what functionality you want), and most importantly: *don't nag.* Fursuits take time to be made!
Yay,two of my fav furries doing a collab
“You look just like telephone!” 1. Colorblind, 2. Maybe because… they’re the same species…????? Just a hunch tho.
7:04 boi forgot hes not asking a proto maker
I mean it wouldve been perfect IF THEY HAD ENOUGH TALENT TO MAKE THEMSELVES A SUIT :)
Oooooooooo
First of all, thank you so much for this video! I will be submitting my FIRST EVER fursuit order on wednesday, so I'm gonna use this as a 'how not to act' video and just do the opposite of the people you both encountered.
Also your suits are both SUPER CUTE!
... I do confess though when I was in high school, I WAS going to try and order a suit that went from bipedal digitigrade to quadsuit if I bent over before realizing that would be wicked hard XD Maybe one day I'll try and make something like that myself! But commissioning a maker? Nah, not putting them through that lol
She take her time makeing fursuit i kinda take alot of time making fursuit still working on my fox fursuit
3:57 that part ✨BUEAW✨
I think what certain furries don’t understand is that artists are… well, artists. There’s a certain way of thinking what art is, and artist expectations within the furry fandom. I understand it’s very stressful, but from what I observe a lot of yall are doing an amazing job! Just keep focusing on your development and have fun with it
Perfection is easier said than done.
I love the fact that I learnd my new idol bc you posted this
No but serously that dragon fursuit is the cutest
I'd love to get a fursuit head and paws but always nervous I'ma ask for too much. Also even if there are imperfections I understand why some people my look at it and complain but it's rude to tear into it. Be blessed the creator of the fursuit took the time and effort to make the wonderful creation ^w^
I don't really care about perfection you guys are good at it to be honest.
i will make sure to keep all of this in mind when i commotion my fursona to a fursuit maker!! this was very helpful and i hope both you have a wonderful day!! or night!! :3
So I have a question! I'm making a fursuit head and I was wondering if you have any tips with furring and carving the face (without a sewing machine or any power tools)!!
3:45 time stamped is so funny😂. Like “LXKHTDSAX, DO YOU HAVE EYEBALLS?!?! AAARRRGGGGGHHHH!”😂
Omg I never thought I would see 2 of my fav furries on YT in the same video! :D
This was the sweetest collar ever oml!!
