  • This is a preview video from the online Couture Beading & Embellishment Course Part 1. In this video I demonstrate how to frame up silk organza, this is an important part of the process to ensure the fabric is tight like a drum ready for beading. This is where the word 'tambour' comes from, which means drum in French.

Is there a way to frame the material without having to stitch it with thread and a needle?

Unfortunately not, this is the way it is done in industry and the most effective at keeping the fabric straight to the grain

I’m unsure how to embroider material, large material, say if I want to embroider the hem of a dress. Would you be able to explain why we frame the fabric like this? And how I can tambour material to be used for garments, I would like to tambour embroider a large piece of fabric running down the side of my body. Does one need a frame for this? Thank you very much for your video and explanations

Is the frame used for just decorative artworks? Or for use in garments as well?
