    Love this episode. And yes he's meant to be more of a anti-hero .... or unlikable protagonist

    Yay!!! Thank you for mentioning me😊
    He gets much more likable when you watch more lol - and they have lecture halls because it’s a teaching hospital

    Don't really know that anyone should ever need to be likeable in order for you to feel bad for them when something horrible happens to them. He basically lost the use of one of his legs without using a cane, he is on painkillers because he is constantly in pain, and the woman he loved and trusted enough to allow her to make medical decisions on his behalf betrayed that trust and went against what she knew he wanted.
    I mean, to each their own, but yeah... personally, I am definitely unable to not feel for him.

    This episode is really cool in general!! The 3 most active residents kinda mirror House's team (Chase, Foreman, and Cameron), they often break 4th wall by making self-aware comments and knowing they're in a show (House says "take a break, go get coffee, pee etc" before the commercial break), scenes with patients are so theatrical!! A great episode 👑
    EDIT: Oh, yeah, not to mention he figured out why the actual lecturer-doctor became ill!! And the class shots show just how few residents there were at the beginning of the class, and how many of them came to listen to the lecture at the end of the episode!! :}

      I'd never heard of such a thing as a teaching hospital. However, it makes sense now.

      Just because it's a teaching hospital doesn't mean it has lecture halls like this. A university would, and it would use the lecture hall for didactic courses for medical students. When the medical students are on clinical rotations at teaching hospitals, they'd just join the residents in smaller groups in conference rooms or even the workroom on their unit, where the attending or chief resident would give a talk in front of a whiteboard. @T.A.G. is right that the residents joining the lecture hall where the medical students are gathered is unrealistic; they'd have a shit ton of work to do. They wouldn't pop in just to call out a super obvious diagnosis in front of the undergrads, with a mystical smirk on their face. And the senior doctor wouldn't berate the students about how they're all going to kill people so they better get used to it. Nuts.

    13:10 "Dont those guys have work to do? Why are they sitting in on the lecture"
    Something you learn when watching the show is that House is kind of a legend in that verse, considered the best diagnostician in the world. Given his mean demeanor, you can imagine he rarely would want to give any lectures or classes, so them sitting in on his lecture is basically them making the most of a very rare occasion. Lectures by great doctors are a treasure even irl, so you can imagine they'd find time to be able to sit in

    This is more of a shock factor episode with the House revelation. It matters more if you have already seen House suffer with the leg as this gives you an explanation behind it. Houses head and Wilsons heart have way more emotions involved and make for better blindwatch coz it comes together with or without context of the rest of the show.

    every episode of this show is amazing. perfect TV show. the show rivals the quality of breaking bad. I guess you can say it's the breaking bad of doctor shows in my opinion.

    Yeah, House isn't meant to be likable, that's kind of his whole deal. He's a huge narcissistic jerk who practices medicine because he's addicted to it; puzzling out what's wrong with people, being right, getting to play god, etc... But then also, as the show goes on, we get to see many humanizing moments from him that prove he still has a heart, deep-down, just enough of one that keeps him you rooting for him, despite it all. He's funny, doesn't give a f--- what anyone thinks about him, and pretty much a genius at diagnostic medicine, which is always fun to watch.
    His character and that of his best friend Wilson are meant to be a wink and nod toward Sherlock Holmes and Watson, hence "House" and "Wilson."

      @@victoriaodegaard1 I like him too. He's not nice, but he can be kinder at time than the "nice" characters. From my memories, he's less judgey of marginalized/unconventional people in a way. His bad temper is in part due to being in constant pain. Which is proven when for a brief time he's not in pain anymore and start to get nicer.

    Princeton Plainboro is a teaching hospital, therefore, they need a place in which to put the students until they're not a danger to the patients. So, classrooms!

    If any of my medical faculty acted like this, the entire class would walk out. The mystery patients also aren't that impressive when you could do a basic work up of the most common differentials based on the history. House's rhabdomyolysis was staring them in the face from the beginning, for example. The drama and characters aren't interesting enough to make this entertaining to me. And yeah, House is an uber fireable jerk. Also, I LOL'd at everything getting diagnosed with MRIs.
