I first used one of these at work. It was a powerhouse. Fortunately, I managed to get one from eBay some years ago and I have been upgrading it. Full capacitor replacement in the PSU and in the logic board and a few dodgy diodes also. I really want to retrobrite the case. It’s still a great machine to use.
I used to have one of these. I loved it. You can very easily bump it from 25 to 33 mhz by changing some resisters on the back of the board which makes a big difference for no ill effect. You can google guides to do this. I do recommend getting a fan though.
I bought a LC 475 in 1995 and I could install macOS 8.1. I upgraded the RAM to 36 MB and the VRAM to the maximum. I replaced the hard disk to 1GB one and I bought a CD reader.
That must have been expensive back in the day! Do you remember how much you paid for all of that by any chance? In 1995 the only thing i could afford was to buy a MacWorld magazine and drool over all the PowerBooks. I remember the prices were incredibly high.
@@retrodelirium1529 the official price of the LC-475 in France was 20 000 french francs including VAT at the rate of 33%. As it was an expo model, I bought it 6000 francs by giving 2000 francs each month during three monthes. The hard disk cost 3000 francs, I paid it with the money I win with the Loto (a sort of lottery). I had a good job in this time.

Dude, I hope this channel takes off! You deserve waaaay much more views and subscribers! Not sure if removing the fan is a good idea tho... That case design is very cramped and with the lid on, there is no ventilation on top. The original Macintosh and Macintosh Plus had a case design that creted a "chimney effect" but this was designed with a fan in mind... But hopefully it will work! If you decide to overclock it tho, you should really put the fan back.
and if you put a real 68040 you have a quadra computer, it is easy to do on zif socket and apple always refuse to do this. It was an upgrade I did in my shop in past and it transform little computer into beast for a cheap price (I used Amiga CPU as spare aprts as Apple refuse to sell them at decent price) Games are so much faster with a math copro
Could you maybe share an image file of your SD card since you've already put the effort into gathering and installing all this software ?! It should be quicker for others to just buy a bluescsi and burn this .img file to an SD. Thanks!

Nice to see these old macs upgraded and put through their paces! Let's see more soon!

@@retrodelirium1529 oui 20 000 francs représentait 4 mois de salaire minimum de l’époque. Une fortune.

Cool video, just subbed, do you think you could upload your boot img somewhere?
How are you connecting a Sun LCD to the 475?
Mac OS Ex…? It’s Mac OS TEN :P
Meh. I gave up on that argument years ago. Even Apple sometimes get's it wrong now.
