Pleased to learn the driver was okay. A severe error of judgement that saw a lovely Landy wrecked. But at the end of the day, it's just a machine. Most importantly everyone is okay and hopefully a valuable lesson learned.
Bill Blinky Sorry Bill but what lesson here was supposed to be learned? He got the kid out. Which is more than I can say for a lot of people who would've just tried to show off for the kid. It was an unfortunate accident, not really a lesson learned situation.
Glad nobody was hurt and the boy exited before the attempt. Gorgeous truck, like someone stated earlier it's just a machine. Very replaceable. Thanks for the video.
Have been to KORC a few times and this hill is off limits now, the guy got away with a few cuts and bruises but was out cold when he was rescued so was taken away for a check over, land is now a pickup and yes he has got straight back in the saddle.
did a bit of research and found this comment on offroad site " There wasn't anyone else in the landy and the guy crawled out the rear door and walked away from it. The A Posts snapped and the roof was forced onto the steering wheel and the dash snapped in half. The landies bee rebuilt and he's still doing the pay and play sites in it. It does look like his leg came out the alpine light at the end, though.."
Reminds me of when a man was driving too fast on a on ramp to a highway & rolled a box truck down a bank & his arm came out the window & got pinched off into the mud & I went & found it & put it on a piece of news paper I found to keep it clean that it might be reattached maybe. The truck kept rolling & he did not have a seatbelt on & got thrown out straight up 20 to 30 ft.
Two things: 1) Always wear a seat belt when going off road. 2) When you decide to increase the clearance on your 4x4 and or mod your car for hard core off roading, install an internal shell/cage that will prevent the roof from colapsing when the car does deside to roll over. This guy clearly did neither and paid the price.
@uprised Yes, it is very sad. I'm not sure if he died, but at 1:21 you can see his leg sticking out the side, through the roof actually, and then the truck rolls unto his leg. The enormous amount of damage likely ruptured several arteries. If they were in a remote location, it could be very difficult to stop arterial bleeding.
If You View All Comments, the bloke who is actually in the video has commented and explained he was badly bruised but ok and could still make it to work the next day, he also mentions that he always lets his little lad get out before attempting things like that. He has now restored the Landy to what we see in the video. In my opinion it's a good job he wasn't wearing a seat belt, if he had he would have been crushed because it would have help him up right and in one place
I think everyone who does off roading should watch this video, the kid crying at the end really gets the message across in my opinion, not wearing a seat belt is stupid
@scawsbymot1 this almost happened to me and the mrs in my defender. it prompted me to fit a full roll cage. thank god you are ok. you were very "lucky" to walk away from that. have you fitted a cage to the re-built defender?
I always climb big hills but sometimes my gut feeling would say "No" than I keep quite and listen again than if it's repeat than I turn around. Sometimes it's not the hill that is big but the day is not yours. But only your gut knows that, The God in your.
also found this "Nope either it was pushed back in by the impact or he managed to pull it back in himself As it says in my posts and on the Utube comments. The driver walked away from it. And no he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, which is why he managed to dive into the back as it was rolling, thus avoiding been crushed when the roof collapsed."
well the poor guy had the seance not to let his son go in it, ok no roll cage a lot of damage to the land rover, and you can bet the mums not letting her son go off roading with dad again, just hope the guy and his land rover make a full recovery
I rang the company name on the side of the land rover some time ago - and amazingly the driver escaped with only bruises. The land rover was fully re-built after its adventure.
Sad accident. I hope his leg is allright by now. I feel sad for the young boy watching this, but it could have been worse. Always lock your seat belt before climbing hills like these. Good luck and keep up the offroad driving! Rgds Volvo C303 driver
If it was driven up slowly, he would have lost traction earlier, then losing traction able to back down safely by using the brakes.......when you launch a vehicle the way he did, you can.....(as he did)....place yourself into a position where you have neither traction nor any brakes to hold it on the hill......Good to see no one hurt......Great education video/flick for 4WDing
MrMan you mean put out in reverse and back down. if you just back down with the brakes and you get it out of control, you are not able to speed up and straighten up your vihicle.
Wow not only did his leg get messed up on it's last roll, that kid is so lucky he got out first... who knows what could have happened... On a positive note, it sounded so nice.
if you look closely at the rear left window on the last roll you see his leg come out and completely snap :/ and his mate clearly says "his legs gone!". feel sorry for the kid who sounds so scared ='( at 1:20 is where his leg breaks out the window if you want to watch it :/
The crying at the end absolutely got to me.... glad all ok and so glad that little lad got out first....
Pleased to learn the driver was okay. A severe error of judgement that saw a lovely Landy wrecked. But at the end of the day, it's just a machine. Most importantly everyone is okay and hopefully a valuable lesson learned.
Driver showed *great* judgment - had the son leave the vehicle before the climb. Well done.
Bill Blinky
Sorry Bill but what lesson here was supposed to be learned? He got the kid out. Which is more than I can say for a lot of people who would've just tried to show off for the kid. It was an unfortunate accident, not really a lesson learned situation.
Not really wrecked you can just replace the roofs on them sides and windscreens
Glad nobody was hurt and the boy exited before the attempt. Gorgeous truck, like someone stated earlier it's just a machine. Very replaceable. Thanks for the video.
The kid crying at the end was the icing on the cake for me!
Roll cage clearly not present and essential when doing this, as well as a proper harness.
Good call on making the boy get out. Double Thumbs up!
Great to see the driver keeping the young bloke safe hope he is ok
Respect to the driver for getting his son out before the climb.
Kirton is a very good site with a lot of variety and that applies to the drivers too, good to hear he was ok and hopefully a few lessons learned.
not a bad dad tbh, got his kid out the way and then showed him- at great risk to himself- what being a prat gets you. top dad. my hat is off to him.
Have been to KORC a few times and this hill is off limits now, the guy got away with a few cuts and bruises but was out cold when he was rescued so was taken away for a check over, land is now a pickup and yes he has got straight back in the saddle.
I think we need new KC lights....glad to see the kid get out first....wild roll

and that's why you NEVER EVER let the kids sit in the car when you go 4WDing. Good job Dad for making him get out!!!
Reminds me of when a man was driving too fast on a on ramp to a highway & rolled a box truck down a bank & his arm came out the window & got pinched off into the mud & I went & found it & put it on a piece of news paper I found to keep it clean that it might be reattached maybe. Man that FJ sounded good!!
Thats what it sounds like when Bobby figures out that he's going to have to start bringing home tthe bacon!
Well, good job dad too! But what was it the thing coming out of the window? Leg or arm, and then broken or everyhting was fine ?
finally a camera man that can watch his friend get wrecked and not show us his shoes, or end the video
Two things:
1) Always wear a seat belt when going off road.

what was the reason to speed up the hill? would it work if you locked diffs adn go on low range slowly?
thumps up, sucks that that cool land rover got wasted, but at least he made one right call....getting the kid out.
class mate good going fella nearly got her there next time
It'll buff right out..
You can replace the roofs on them
Said and eye opener! hope the driver survived!
im so glad little fella got out....a roll cage is a must when tackling these inclines.
@uprised Yes, it is very sad. I'm not sure if he died, but at 1:21 you can see his leg sticking out the side, through the roof actually, and then the truck rolls unto his leg. Awesome roll cage.
Yeah, I wonder what happened to that leg!
Not a must watch for the boy! Only a slight mistake, amplified by the terrain, but a dreadful outcome. I'm so glad that the boy wasn't in the car...
Was the driver ok / wearing a seatbelt as it looks like an arm comes out the rear roof window?
Just like the sticker says on his back window.. ONE LIFE LIVE IT
good video hope to see more
@1996BulletProof damn dude that was one hell of a roll.. Glad you to see you live through that!
Never ceases to amaze me how some drivers think that fat tyres and lift kit can overcome the laws of physics..
the best sounding engine I have ever heard. Glad you survived :/
I feel bad for the kid who started crying, but then its good that he was told to leave, or else he would have hurt himself!
Good to hear you were not seriously injured mate. Out of curiosity, did you add some roll bars when you rebuilt the Defender?
If You View All Comments, the bloke who is actually in the video has commented and explained he was badly bruised but ok and could still make it to work the next day, he also mentions that he always lets his little lad get out before attempting things like that. Max respect on getting your son out
his leg came out the little back window, just shows you the G force in a roll
I think everyone who does off roading should watch this video, the kid crying at the end really gets the message across in my opinion, not wearing a seat belt is stupid

At least he was responsible enough to leave the kid behind.
was that him arm that flew out the window on the last roll onto its side/roof?
Thank God he was at least smart enough to let the kid out first.
its got what I would say is a straight through exhaust. You can hear the turbo . I would assume it is a 200 or 300 tdi? Also lots of diesel smoke.
Good job to the cameraman. Most people usually can't stay on the subject when something like this happens. But yeah, seat belts would have been nice.
also found this "Nope either it was pushed back in by the impact or he managed to pull it back in himself As it says in my posts and on the Utube comments. The driver walked away from it. OMG is that guy okay!!! That would have seriously hurt. Im glad the kid got out first.
well the poor guy had the seance not to let his son go in it, ok no roll cage a lot of damage to the land rover, and you can bet the mums not letting her son go off roading with dad again, just hope the guy and his land rover make a full recovery
TOP TIP Spend your money on safety cage before suspension mods if your going to risk your life and others in your Landy.
I rang the company name on the side of the land rover some time ago - and amazingly the driver escaped with only bruises. The land rover was fully re-built after its adventure.
Could you tell me the name of the company on the truck? Due to we now own this truck!
@@benmarshall1522 Had a good look Ben.... I think this is it ....Scawsby MOT & Car Care Centre Doncaster....you'll get the number of the internet.
Don't suppose anyone know what was under the bonnet? sounded lovely :) Sham that, was a nice looker, still... not lost! Just some new panels :)
Sad accident. I hope his leg is allright by now. I feel sad for the young boy watching this, but it could have been worse. Always lock your seat belt before climbing hills like these. Good luck and keep up the offroad driving! Rgds Volvo C303 driver
young fella said " no fuckink way im outa here" good lesson learnt
@Hiddenjello i think its through the hole in the roof that the arm appears...always buckle up!
Glad the kid is safe! hope everyone made it out alright (one guy broke his leg, obviously)
didnt see that til you mentioned it, it come out the roof window haha!
One Life - Live It. Glad the guy's ok

MrMan you mean put out in reverse and back down.
if you just back down with the brakes and you get it out of control, you are not able to speed up and straighten up your vihicle.
How awful, I hope the driver was ok. It must have been horrible for his lad to see that.
was this chap ok?? almost looks like he fell out on the 2nd to last roll.
Wow, that was Kirton wasn't it, I was there and saw it !! :)
I had the battered Camo Discovery (with the full external cage)
A pic I took from the other side....
i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb308/Phantom_Mark/SANY0104.jpg
Thats why im making a roll bar.
Did that persons leg come out the window? Hopefully time and money was all that accident cost.
thats why you should have a really good full roll cage.
Did anyone else see the guys leg sticking out the back window? damn that is terrible. He must have really gotten hurt. And that was a nice Rover
@MrAss707 Glad to see that there are some people in the world with common sense.
and that kiddies is why you don't try to hillclimb with a jacked up short wheel base truck.
the kid was the smartest one in the truck!!!
God I hope those that were in it were ok. The persons leg that you could see, is that the driver? Or was there more than one person in the car?
Wow not only did his leg get messed up on it's last roll, that kid is so lucky he got out first... who knows what could have happened... On a positive note, it sounded so nice.
Glad you were okay mate.
Was that an arm I seen at the end??
1:22

At least he had the sense to get the kid out first!!
that looking good
Hope he was ok!! shittt!! gave me a heart attack that !! gonna have to give it a like though :)
Now I read down the comments it is good he came out OK. Happy ending you can always rebuild the rig.
@zZiglaf i think you´r right .. did i see his arm and head come out the window and then the car rolled on him?
Oh my goodness. That was just SCARY!! Hope he's fine. Dang Man.
Holy crap that thing is huge
Holy crap! Hope everybody's alright.
was that a dog at the end screaming out ?

Did someone come outta the window and get rolled over ?!!! or was that just stuff in the back ?
Love it
1:21 leg through top window!!
that was some funny shit right there thats about all u can expect from a land rover
Wow !!
At least he had the sense to let the youngster out
@s1mm3g Yeah I thought so too, but I think it was the driveshaft.
oh man, atleast he was responsible enough to let the kid out, lucky that LR's are that strong it couldve been worse
That'll polish out
Does anyone know if the driver was ok. Apart from the obvious leg wrench??
if you look closely at the rear left window on the last roll you see his leg come out and completely snap :/ and his mate clearly says "his legs gone!". feel sorry for the kid who sounds so scared ='( at 1:20 is where his leg breaks out the window if you want to watch it :/
did he survive?
hat er überlebt?
good thing that the kid got out and at first I thought he was the driver but then I realized that it's a right side drive land rover
