This Bridge is The Bridge ― Stands apart, as Richard Anderson, knighted as The Sonic Architect a vision of multiple analogue synthesizer's all linked together has honestly built his own "Master-Blaster" ― Now, has become one of the most prolific individual's of the music industry. I'm really very surprised more host's didn't select "Black Cat" for the Dark-wave masses to consumption (in a good way) today; especially, when something this substantial comes along, which covers subjects beyond the average mind. Richard is a powerhouse by himself, aswell as a highly complex, contemplative thinker. Watch out, now Richard's transmigrating to Industrial territory (the 'samples' and that 'pulse pounding' bass). Yes, those Goth/Industrial roots are difficult to shed, my friend. There's a particular blend of three entire world’s - Critically, I’d say there’s a healthy measure of Devo’s early work and a particular Cinematic Neo-Noir; however, a deliberate This is The Bridge stylistic flair, which always has a particularly great stream of conscious all carefully layered-out while maintaining a measure of movement. There are movie references, which conjure up the idea, so many excellent 'Independent Art Movies' back in the 60’s and 70’s; such as, “A Clock Work Orange”, “Anything" by Jean Cocteau, and the “Invocation of My Demon Brother”. Yeah, they might have had to rely on cheap props, limited lighting and sound, or even the sometimes overdramatized acting, were far greater, when compared to there sleeker bigger budgeted contemporaries ― Yet, those Art Film's were brilliantly impactful. The ardent Cinemaphile's (like me), or the Filmographic-aficionado enjoy exploring those wonderous, funky, freaky, maddening, thought provoking emote ― Those alternative realities swirling about in veil’s of sexual innuendo and Foust-thrusted drama’s - I love it..... !!!! "Claws" alone has dystopian realities galore with lyrics like these, it's the same thrill from "Blair Witch Project" (the original production) ― Chills up the spine. I'm sure these are out of sequence, but you'll get the essence within these lyrics: "Watch Out, Here Come Claws Watch Out, The End is Yours (Bad Things Come From Those Who Wait) Watch Out, They'll Make You Pay Watch Out, The Sign is Yours (Fires Burning You Left Them Cold) Watch Out, Here Come The Claws Watch Out, Now You Gonna Pay (Your Story Was Left Untold) Watch Out, The Final Day Watch Out, Now Your The Prey (They Will Show You What You Are)" Using “Yabu no Naka no Kuroneko”, the 1968 film by Kaneto Shindo, was is an excellent choice. The Sonic-Architect’s love our dystopian movies, which brilliantly magnify a certain social critique and always display many alternative realities - That’ll make your brain, spin and contort for hour after watching them. How much fun… !!! I can foresee song’s from the Black Cat album, played in countless university student film’s ― Making thematic Retro-inspired independent films set in, Neo-Noir dark hall’s, dimly-lit characters skulking about among inside a forced perspective, where only thing in color is a neon-green sign flashing the word “Eat”, and we can’t forget - well - literally the black cat’s, recalling memories of "Bladerunner".
Richard Anderson takes us again on a journey into the vast and ethereal spheres of the analogue synthesizer. The loops and sequences that conjure up a painting in your head! 13 new songs on his new work, which as always comes with crystal clear sound and clean production. Another masterly work by this exceptional artist !! 🖤🐈⬛
