Former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis featured at MTSU Daniels Center Event (Full Program)

Retired Marine four-star general Jim Mattis, who served as Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2019, was in Nashville Thursday (Oct. 10, 2024) at a fundraiser breakfast for Middle Tennessee State University's Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center at Nashville's Hutton Hotel. He was interviewed by former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist during an hour-long conversation covering numerous topics, including international challenges that Mattis feels face the country and the importance of veterans in our communities.
Mattis served with retired with MTSU’s senior adviser for veterans and leadership initiatives, retired Army Lieutenant General Keith Huber, in various overseas tours .The event was organized by Steve Smith, chair of the university’s board of trustees. #trueblue
