Just found this. Wow what dedication and devotion put into this. Great to see the early days via video tape. Just wish I had the patience and dedication to do this. Thank you for sharing
My late father rode the street car to see burial of knute rockne in 1931. He had to transfer in downtown so. bend. The 2nd street car took him to highland cemetery. He lived on w. washington st. Street car tracks ran in front of apartment.
This is what we do in Indiana~ We get bored, overthink things, and then build it! That's how we got the Indy 500/Gasoline Alley, Borg-Warner, Allison, Prest-o-lite, Elwood Haynes' numerous ventures, Ball Jars, Brown County... and Bob Olson's wonderful creations~
Great video. I was trying to find the point where its been decided to switch from overhead catenary power to onboard 12v battery power? Around the 9:35 I think it's still on overhead, but then when loading onto the old truck I see a pile of batteries removed? Cheers =)
Always reminds me of the film High Society when Samantha Lord (Grace Kelly) referred to Mike Connors (Frank Sinatra) as "The gentleman from South Bend." :)
Well done brother in law Bob Olson ... amazing the thousands of hours of design and hard labor building the railroad and street car!

Woo-hoo! Another to join the ranks of such lines as the Rock River Valley Traction!! I do love a good 'backyard' trolley line!!

I wish you the best of luck emperor kuzco
I’d like to do the same thing for the Netherlands, connecting the front garden with the back garden, with a total track distance of about 69 meters.
is this trolley still in operation. When is it open to the public?
Mens shorts were much shorter in the 1980's. Very cool trolley line.
Indeed! Must be way better in warm weather. Although I wouldnt say its the most stunning thing to wear.
the truck is made from a fence post...nice
Does this still exist in 2021

If you put a road between the tracks, jitneys will precede you and steal your passengers.
