Good comparison. Pretty much sums up what other reviewers who actually bother to OC are seeing. At MSRP this card is a very decent deal. Especially considering you still can’t get a 4090 anywhere near MSRP even if it’s used. Of course the gen on gen raster increase is disappointing but that doesn’t make it an inherently bad deal in the current market.
Since almost everyone is able to do this without even touching voltage. Nvidia's gpu boost algorithm should have been able to automatically do this. Something went wrong somewhere, or they just did this to release the same card as 5080 super later

How is it a decent deal? Cards that cost almost half as much have the same amount of Vram. A card that costs this much shouldn't be gimped by vram, also even with the overclock its not going to be on par with the 4090 in a lot of games. This is just a small sample of games being shown. I think if you can get a 5080 for msrp, then it ain’t a bad deal. Bit of an overclock and you’re at 4090 level, a card that cost almost 2k. However it is a little disappointing in all honesty that this generation 80 series card is slower than last generation 90 series card.

UK price for msi trio 5080 is only £1319-1469, msi trio 4090 was never below £1700 the whole 2 years it was sold. So for me if you just put in a preorder and wait for it, this is a better deal than 4090, only thing is vram might not be enough for some games but truly Indiana jones is a badly optimised game, when warhammer2 dropped it’s 4k texture update it uses around 13gb of vram only and i saw huge difference in texture not with Indiana jones. Nah, as a person who owns a 4080 Super, yeah this card is just an OC version of 4080. Even with overclock without undervolt, the gains are like 3-5% which is negligible especially at similar power draw of 5080 OC. People forget that the 4000 series are already OCed to the max and they have to be undervolted to even gain performance. RTX 5080 requires no undervolt to gain another 12-16% uplift from the existing 10% on stock, making it 25-30% faster than RTX 4080 Super at both max OC. Heck, you can adjust the fan curve of RTX 5080 and just OC the card to 3100 MHz area and it will still gain 10-15% whilst only getting like 10-15W more. That is also the case with 4090 requiring undervolt to even gain performance. A RTX 5080 with no undervolt is reported to be an overclocking monster and that's saying something to the amount of PF left by Nvidia for some reason.

If you don't also overclock the 4090 it's not really a fair comparaison. Still, interesting video
@@abeidiot they probably will make a 5080 super with 20/24 gb vram and 12000/13000 cudas or more so that there isnt an enormous gap between 80 and 90. Im going to get a 5080 super if the price will be decent
Its really weird why they did this.
5080 is a very decent card if you oc it, but if you dont oc it its a waste of money.@@abeidiot
@@FantasticKruH No it isn't. It's a great card, it's just not worth upgrading to if you already have a 4080.
How is it a decent deal? Cards that cost almost half as much have the same amount of Vram. A card that costs this much shouldn't be gimped by vram, also even with the overclock its not going to be on par with the 4090 in a lot of games. This is just a small sample of games being shown. If the card was $899 it would be more interesting. The 5070ti has now become more interesting though. 29% less...if it overclocks like this it should get within 5% or the 5080 without an overclock. That's a much better purchase imo
any recommendations for undervolting the 5080 ?
Great OC headroom for 5080
I think if you can get a 5080 for msrp, then it ain’t a bad deal. Bit of an overclock and you’re at 4090 level, a card that cost almost 2k. However it is a little disappointing in all honesty that this generation 80 series card is slower than last generation 90 series card.
It is good for those who can easily spend on it. For the high prices, sort of not relevant time to watch.
Can you do the same test in 1440p?
Are you just using the OC Card as it is out the box or did you overclock it even more
He overclocked it more, TRX 5080 would never dream to come close to 4090 without manual overclocking, and still pathetic with that 16gb

Seeing these benchmarks I assume it will be a 4070 super with 4x framegen
There was msrp models from every aib for the 5080. You should be able to get a 5070 for msrp after the launch hype dies down (unless they are going to flood the market at launch because amd is bringing the competition around that time) though is it worth it for 550$? You have to decide yourself if it is.
I bet that 5070 rasterization is slower than the 4070 super 😂

What a useless Video, 4090 ist in all better the 5080 and it's not oc. And has 24gb. So 5080 is a good card but not worth to buy, if you have a 4090

if theres no frame gen then its a fair comparison if its just upscaling. especially if both cards are using it. considering the sub 100 fps in some of these , theres no frame gen enabled
BOOM: if you now factor in the 4x frame generation, you will end up with latency that is indistinguishable from that of the 4090 but twice the fps.
4090 can be overclocked as well and can run at 500+ watts, has 24 GB of VRAM, and MFG introduces artifacts, so it's not an apples-to-apples comparison
How can you test a card that throws extra frames into the mix?
And he uses a overclocked 5080 vs not overclocked 4090 smh
@@GOOPgaminginc what would be the point of overclocking 4090 here? Is this some sort of competition? You never need to overclock cards because they boost near their limit at a given stock voltage. 5080 do not do that, so you manually overclock. So this video more or less just demonstrates a 5080 that has not been gimped by nvidia(to make 5080 super later)
@@abeidiot Then whats the point of showing the oveclocked 5080 then? It is not a competition right? Or do we show incomplete biased results as good test? The 4090 gains 8-10% when overclocked and it should be what is used when comparing with OC's.
Glad to see 5080 overclocks so well.
but i sure like to see MAX stable oc of 4090 vs OC'd 5080, as i find anything that compares overclock vs none overclock product makes me want to scream into void it's not right, the math is all wrong! besides that inner screaming voice, i want to thank the OP for making this video, nice to see a possible 5080 Ti, [as 5080 only has half the cores of flagship, so lots of room for a Ti model] to come in later will soundly beat the living hell out of any 4090 if they dare ever release it, 5080 really should of been 5070, but nvidia didn't want to sell it for less then 1k lmfao
Bus width and VRAM makes it inconsequential.
It has gddr7, the bus width doesnt matter. Ot still has 1tb of bandwidth. 16gb of vram is too low for 4k though
Then you do a light OC on the 4090 up 180Mhz and wake up from your dream! My SuprimX holds a stable 2940Mhz. Where will you go next on the 5080? At 3.6Ghz? A useless test! Such wow, many $$$ value.
