If it gets an X rating, it gets an X rating. I believe there are many talented people who can play the Judge, the audio book narrator here does a good job. Imagine an actor who gets picked out of thousands of potential people. The movie might stretch the length of a LOTR movie, but 5 hours is exaggerating it. Longer books have been adopted into shorter times and it has worked well.

I think Blood Meridian as an animated movie/show with this similar art style would be a good portrayal compared to a live action movie since Judge Holden is almost ethereal in nature with so much incomprehensible evil. But then again, I'd still see the live action of Blood Meridian.
