This is way better than the Crust. The crust has too much ‘chat’ in the game itself and feels very proscribed. They’ve already planned out the progression for you.

Ethanol is one of the best cooling mediums due to it's high thermal capacity. skimping on radiant pipes however is generally a poor idea. Ethanol itself obviously is not perfect but for low temperature cooling it's amazing early game. Naphtha is another great coolant and famously polluted water. sadly Nilaus has developed some very wrong habits. It is a common misconception that using conductive material for normal pipes will give you just as good of a result as radiant pipes but cheaper. It wont, ever. Normal pipes take the conductivity of both the medium and the pipe but radiant pipes ignore the medium and ONLY use the multiplied conductivity of the pipe. effectively it gives your, say ethanol, a conductivity of 120 for Cu. This why you wanna be using radiant pipes and not skimping on em in most cases. Unless your goal is slow or moderated heat transfer.

I prefer the slow/moderated heat transfer when using the metal refinery to warm places up to not burst the pipes and waste the pipe material. Use a buffer tank to even out the coolant heat and an overflow bridge to keep circulation going. It's not too bad for a few batches of steel at a time using pwater coolant.
