    POPE BENEDICT XVI: “While Catholic believe the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it is true, one cannot take individual biblical quotes or passages and say each one is literally true.
    It is possible to understand the sacred Scriptures as the word of God only by looking at the Bible as a whole, a totality in which the individual elements enlighten each other and open the way to understanding. It is not possible to apply the criterion of inspiration or of absolute truth in a mechanical way, extrapolating a single phrase or expression.”

    Absolutely. The Holy Spirit spoke to us through the prophets. We know that in the New Testament that when Christians were baptized there were supposed to receive the Holy Spirit. There were some who where baptized that hadn't received the Holy Spirit whom St. Paul corrected by the laying on of hands and received the Holy Spirit, which is where the tradition of Chrismation comes from.
    The Old Testament started with Moses and the books that came down to us were all inspired Scripture. There are other books which which still survived but only those that the Church fathers determined were canonical (authorized) made it into the Bible including the Apocrypha. What most Protestant Christians don't know is that the original KJV included the Apocrypha.
    One has to be careful however because the books in the Bible include stories that include evil acts, demons, and Satan himself which God deals with. It also includes many stories of men who turned away from God and committed evil acts. These are included as warnings to us.
    As St Paul said scripture can be used for our spiritual education.

    • @stevelenores5637
      @stevelenores5637 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is to address the first thing this paster said which is a great error. St Paul was not in the process of writing the New Testament. He was guiding and building Christ's church in the first century. St Paul didn't have a clue his letters would later be included in the Bible. The first complete Bibles weren't even hand written until the 5th century. For about 2 generations prior to this the complete list of books were known. The books were known just not the 'list' of books.

      Spoke to the fathers through the prophets...Now through the Son.
      Meaning something changed. And what is changed is the prophecy is fulfilled in Christ. The whole OT is fulfilled. That's why NT switch from prophets to sons. Sons see that all that God has prophecy ,God fulfilled,and that God is true and to be trusted,and they witnessing to people not to wait as religion tells them...But to go running and grab it while in flesh..

      Yes! But did they prophesy ? Nope! They all spoke about fulfillment of God's prophecy.

      But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
      Gal 4:5
      to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
      Fullness of time came. But religion still keep people in blindness..Even brother Paul rebuke some that still counting and waiting
      Gal 4:9
      But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?
      Gal 4:10
      You observe days and months and seasons and years.
      Time is fulfilled...You can live and never see grave...But I doubt you will believe that..

      OK, you love scripture. FEAST ON SOME SCRIPTURE!!!! PETER as Shepherd and first Pope: Scriptural evidence and the structure of the primitive Church make it absolutely undeniable that Christ chose Peter and that Peter was first among the twelve. Depending on the translation, Peter is mentioned 195 times. The closest is John (the beloved disciple) at just 29 times. The rest even less. Consider:
      Jesus entered Peter’s house. (Matthew 8:14)
      Jesus changed Simon's name to Peter. (John 1:42)
      Jesus gave Peter the keys to the gates of Heaven. (Matthew 16:19)
      Jesus declared Peter to the the rock. (Matthew 16:18)
      Jesus made Peter shepherd. (John 21:15-17)
      Jesus told Peter to strengthen his brothers (Luke 22:32)
      Jesus paid the Temple tax only for Himself and Peter. (Matthew 17:24-27)
      Jesus preached from Peter's boat. (Luke 5:3)
      Jesus told Peter to "Follow me" (John 21:19)
      Jesus called only Peter to walk on the water. (Matthew 14:29)
      Jesus predicted Peter's three-fold denial. (Matthew 26:34)
      Jesus predicted Peter's repentance and three-fold affirmation. (Luke 22:32)
      Jesus prophesied only Peter's manner of death. (John 21:18-19)
      Jesus taught Peter forgiveness 70 times 7 times. (Matthew 18:21-22)
      Jesus spoke only to Peter at Gethsemane. (Mark 14:37)
      Peter is always listed first of the Apostles. (Matthew 10:2, Luke 6:14, Acts 1:13)
      Peter was first to confess Jesus as Messiah. (Matthew 16:18)
      Peter alone spoke at the Transfiguration. (Matthew 17:4, Mark 9:5, Luke 9:33)
      Peter pointed out the withered fig tree. (Mark 11:21)
      Peter entered the tomb first - John deferring to him. (Luke 24:12, John 20:3-4))
      Peter decided the manner of replacing Judas. (Acts 1:15-26)
      Peter spoke for the eleven at the Pentecost. (Acts 2:14-36)
      Peter was released from prison by the Angel. (Acts 12:6-11)
      Peter spoke for the eleven before the Council. (Acts 4:8-12)
      Peter held sin bound to Ananias and Sapphira. (Acts 5:1-10)
      Peter's shadow healed. (Acts 5:15)
      Peter declared the sin of Simony. (Acts 8:18-23)
      Peter revealed the salvation of Gentiles to the Church at Jerusalem. (Acts 11:1-18)
      The Angel told Cornelius to call for Peter. (Acts 10:3-8)
      The Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentiles as Peter preached to them. (Acts 10:44-45)
      At the empty tomb, the Angel said, "Go tell His disciples, and Peter." (Mark 16:7)
      Mary Magdalene ran to tell Peter and the beloved disciple. (John 20:2)
      The vision of all foods being clean was given only to Peter. (Acts 10:9-16)
      Peter's words silence the first council in Jerusalem. (Acts 15:7-12)
      Paul went to Peter to affirm that his Gospel was not in vain. (Galatians 1:18)
      Peter was given the revelation of the end of the world. (2 Peter 3:10-11)
      Peter taught that Paul’s words were easily twisted. (2 Peter 3:16)
      Peter taught that baptism now saves you (1 Peter 3:21)
      And many other references. One may deny that Peter was primary, but it takes an amazing ignorance or denial of scripture and history to do so.
      As you see, all Bibleist/Protestant/Evangelical/Fundamentalist arrogance is DESTROYED by the bible. They should be ashamed.

      "Word", just like many other words, can have several meanings.
      Yes, WORD is God's Word made flesh, the incarnate second person of the Holy Trinity, but 'word' can also mean the spoken words of Our Lord Jesus, and the Bible tells us that all of Jesus' teachings, His words, were never written down (scripture).
      These words were passed down through the Apostles by word of mouth, and became our Sacred Tradition .
      So yes, word of GOD does not necessarily mean scripture.

      @HAL9000-su1mz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once you abandon the Holy Eucharist, what is left? Scripture. Thus, scripture substitutes for the "real presence." This is not only turning from Christ; not only a gross misuse of scripture, it is as close to idolatry as you can get.

    Protestant Bibles typically include 39 books of the Old Testament, based on the Hebrew Bible canon. However, in the 16th century, Protestant Reformers removed some books from the Old Testament that they considered incompatible with their theology. These books were labeled "Apocrypha" and were not considered Holy Scripture.

      If I’m not wrong, they removed it because it contradicted what Jesus said, right?

    • @russellgay5337
      @russellgay5337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @U0U__111 You are wrong. Martin Luther Removed 7 Books from the Bible, and Wanted to Remove More to Fit his Doctrin. Luther was not afraid to challenge the canon of Scripture. He relegated four New Testament books to an appendix, denying that they were divinely inspired. Though this alteration of the New Testament wasn’t adopted by the Protestant movements, his removal of the seven books was. [Romans 3:28] is a key verse in the differences between traditional Protestants and Catholics. You will notice that Paul says a man is justified by faith (pistei in Greek). When Martin Luther translated the letter to the Romans into German in the sixteenth century, he added the word alone -but alone is not in the original Greek text. [Genesis 3:15]
      Notice that in the protestant version, the person who "will crush" the serpent's head is male, while in the Catholic version that person is female. The Protestant Reformation, only began in 1517.

    • @russellgay5337
      @russellgay5337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @U0U__111 Unfortunately, some Christians cite this beautiful story as evidence against the Catholic theology of salvation, claiming that salvation is by faith alone. they point out, the thief on the cross was never baptized, never received the Eucharist, never did any good works-yet he was saved! Rather large assumptions. How do we know he wasn’t baptized? The Bible doesn’t report the apostles’ baptisms either! He knew Jesus had done nothing wrong, that Jesus was Lord, and that Jesus was going to his kingdom after he died (something Jesus made clear only to his disciples). even if the good thief had never been baptized, the analogy between his life and most other people’s is insufficient to support sola fide. One issue is that the thief lived and died under the Old Covenant. The sacraments, such as Christian baptism and the Eucharist, are part of the New Covenant, which was not fully in place until Jesus died.
