I'll say there were more where that came from! Thanks for the video Jimmy, wasn't sure we would get one today! It was 31 degrees here this morning in southern WV. New chemo cycle for my brother. Wish us luck and have a great day!
@jimmy, Do you know the car cell phone holders that no longer stick to your windshield? Take one and replace the suction cup with a good magnet. Now you can have a phone/camera holder nearly anywhere in your shop, just sticker it to any metal item and record away!
The best compresser still is the old gm 6 cylinder they worked for many years once in a while they needed a seal. All the new ones are junk. We'll done big Jimmy.
Very interested concept/video I look forward to seeing more educational videos. P.s. jimmy I landed my first job as a gse mechanic several of the tools techniques I use are from watching your videos.
Very cool! Never tore apart a compressor. Now it makes sense. I chopped open an accumulator off of my 03 town car to see what was inside. A tube shaped like a U with a mesh screen at the bottom, a moisture absorbing pad attached to the bottom of the tube inside, and 3+oz of oil. I wonder what caused the plate to have the finger get lopped off and subsequently chewed up/pulverized by the compressor?
I have taken a few rattly compressors apart out of curiosity. What I have found is that the bearings which run on the swash plate have failed. Rattles like a failed big end bearing.
Amazing how much engineering go,s into the compressor just so someone can have cold air in their car what,s wrong with the old style air conditioning opening a window 😂😂😂😂❤❤ paul from england
or you can build a gatling machine gun , The Gatling gun is a rapid-firing multiple-barrel firearm invented in 1861 by Richard Jordan Gatling. It is an early machine gun and a forerunner of the modern tommy gun,🔫🔫
Thanks for making us a video for today Jimmy!
You bet! Thanks Ted!
Great autopsy video. This is a lesson not to buy a rebuilt compressor.
Agreed! ;)

"Don't worry, we got more from where that come from". Awesome tool collection. A/C compressor basically a modified variable hydraulic pump.
Great point! Thanks Todd!

Thanks for the video Jimmy! I hope you'll make more component teardown content sometime!
More to come! :)
Great video Jimmy!

That sounds almost like the flexy magnet holder I'm using now, haha. Thanks for the idea Benjamin!

Hi
Hello!
I think the spring valve fatigued and failed. Causing a big mess.
I have taken a few rattly compressors apart out of curiosity. What I have found is that the bearings which run on the swash plate have failed. Rattles like a failed big end bearing.
Yes, that is another common failure. Often they are locked up by then.
Did it get metal in the rest of the system?
No it did not, if it had it would usually be contained in the condenser.
Tear down videos are always good!
Thank you Lloyd!

Haha 240 air, roll down two windows and go over 40.
Reed valves broke. There’s a new engine that is real similar to the way a compressor Is designed
Yeah, very true!
There are videos on you tube where someone made a 4 stroke engine out of an a/c compressor.

Always wanted one to add to my collection! :)
