    Thanks for the great video. I don’t think I would have found the harness connector without your video. I used the same led lights from Amazon and they work great and a lot cheaper than the light that honda sells. Thanks again.

    This was a great find! I have a 2018 Gold Wing Tour DCT. I was about to rig up my own device but was concerned about killing the battery if a compartment was left open or not completely shut. Don't believe this was mentioned earlier but this circuit for the trunk (that is "built in" standard) also times out after 3-4 Minutes. I used a Truck bed lighting kit from Walmart that includes (8) LEDs modules all stringed in parallel. This means that each module can handle 12vDC. Each module also draws about 40mA. I used 2 in the trunk and 1 each for each side bag for a total of (4) and drawing 160mA. The Gold Wing trunk circuit seems to handle this fine. It is not much of a current draw. These light up the compartments just fine. I used a simple RC connector at the top of the passenger seat as I did not have the factory connector to mate the existing one and spliced into the Trunk Sub-Harness cable to feed both side bags that the previous owner had installed to provide power to the optional Trunk Brake light. I mounted the trunk lights near the trunk striker rods in the corners as to try and limit them getting in the way of shutting down onto luggage. In the side bags I removed the plastic knock out plates and used the plastic studs and a small piece of sheet metal to recess the LED modules. Beware that the studs are not angled as the knock out piece. So the LED module does not sits even with the rest of the interior. Not a total show stopper, but was surprised by this in the end as it is a tight access to install these. ~Hope this helps someone else as it has done for me.

    Awesome job, I still use the connectors on my RC today thanks for the idea. The spot you showed earlier in the video that was square with four spots attached is for a trunk light identical to the optional light available for the trunk. I’m sure your setup will be more than sufficient, again great job.

      Mine Aim hi there. So I got the lights in today and the only thing that looks different is that ribbed like cover for the wires that’s probably to protect the wires so I should try and find that too.
      I have the trunk model and I already have the Honda Trunk subharness installed and the trunk light works great. What I’m confused about is the part where you do something with the fuse temporarily because there’s a piece you’re missing.
      If I already have a trunk harness installed, what would be the difference in the connection? Do I just connect the positive and negative wired to the area you were showing that brown/grey wire or do I need some type of clip to attach to the wires for the saddle bag lights to the trunk harness? Sorry I’m just learning about this stuff.

    • @mineaim7066
      @mineaim7066 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel, that black wire loom is something that I added.to protect the wires from abrasion www.amazon.com/dp/B00TFSOABI/ For making the connection, you can tap into your trunk subharness. I don’t have the subharness so I can t say what colors the wires are, but if you use a digital volt ohm meter you can figure out which wires in the subharness are positive and negative.

    I watched your videos about 7 times, you use the brown wire and the red wire? as your video jumps around except when you focus on the LEDs it is hard to see the colors you are using. you will help out more people if you say what wires you use instead of saying " just use a multimeter " a tool that I and others may not possess
