Awesome machine! There is a big difference between the GC and the F model besides just the grade control…you have another 50%+ more power which is just right for that size machine. Im curious about the thumb controls in all your machines…my 304 closes when I pull back/down and opens when push forward/up. My friends 312 is the opposite and we argue about which way is correct when running each other’s stuff…

Sweet machine! I didn't think you had a 20 ton tag. I was thinking it was a 10 ton, but seems i do remember it having air brakes now that I think about it. Are you getting a mulcher for the 313 or did you decide there wasn't enough work to justify having? Ps: I spent 4hrs washing the mud from my dozer undercarriage, that was after I shoveled what I could get to. It was packed around the final drives and inside the track adjuster cover like concrete!

It has a Cummins engine and a 10 speed Eaton transmission. It is loaded with power. So, I think it will be ok. The trick will be getting the proper axle weights right...
Hey Colton, It would be nice to have for sure but the cost of the coupler, a new thumb and recalibrating the grade control system puts it out of reach. Would be very costly to add the quick coupler. Thanks, Sam

From what I found on Google the 2018 D5K2 has 104hp. It is a great machine and very pleased with how it pushes. That next gen D3 is a sweet machine. Don’t have any experience in a newer backhoe. Thanks, Sam
I'm having difficulty coming up with a polite description for my hatred of DEF. Got the GPS system installed on my D5, and about 2 minutes into the training session after it was delivered and set up, it threw a level two emissions fault code. I had just filled the DEF fluid tank the night before and it showed absolutely empty. I'd guess there's an issue with the fluid level sensor... it's been sitting useless on my job since wednesday and local cat service can't get there to look at it until Tuesday. Grrrr....
Right, there are no pleasant words available to speak about a def system. Mine, on the D5 has gone out twice. Thankfully both were covered by warranty. But warranty does help with lost work. I had the Topcon Hiper VR system installed. It is 3D machine control and has a laser reciever integrated with the gps system but the grade tolerance the thing was putting down without the laser seems to make it almost redundant if not unnecessary.
It was a DEF fluid level and quality sensor. They got it replaced yesterday and reflashed the ECM and a few other associated things and it was up and running last night. I ran it for a half hour in the near dark and put down some dirt around a foundation to minus 4/10ths to allow for settlement and 6" of topsoil, and man... didn't have to do any measuring off building corners, or set up and take down a laser or get out of the cab... just drove around "on the drawing" and pushed down dirt piles to grade in a yard area between a building and some sidewalks. I think the phrase "game changer" has become so overused, I don't really like it, but this... is that - for me working by myself. The cost of the system is eye watering but I'm hoping it's "buy once, cry once". Until I "have to" have it installed on an excavator hah.
Well good, sounds like def issue wasn't major at least. Wow! That grade system sure sounds sweet. I know what you mean working by yourself. My grade system is being installed today on the dozer and excited to see how it's going to work. Install once and cry once is a good way to look at it...
Well, that is a good question. I do plan to sale it along with the 3 buckets, ripper and Prinoth mulcher. Need to get an appraisal on it to see what it's worth...
I am operating cat 313 since 4 weeks now! i can not get the taste of hitachi,volvo,kobelco , !! There is no feeling and very jumpy, yes I have set all the controlablity setups for my self but still don’t acting like hydrolic digger
The 313's engine is about the size of the pony engine back in the day, but with 50 times more torque and horse power. Today's diesels are amazing! Did you say what size bucket you have for the 313? Great addition to your fleet!

I ran it for a half hour in the near dark and put down some dirt around a foundation to minus 4/10ths to allow for settlement and 6" of topsoil, and man... didn't have to do any measuring off building corners, or set up and take down a laser or get out of the cab... just drove around "on the drawing" and pushed down dirt piles to grade in a yard area between a building and some sidewalks. I think the phrase "game changer" has become so overused, I don't really like it, but this... is that - for me working by myself. The cost of the system is eye watering but I'm hoping it's "buy once, cry once". Until I "have to" have it installed on an excavator hah.
Well good, sounds like def issue wasn't major at least. Wow! That grade system sure sounds sweet. I know what you mean working by yourself. My grade system is being installed today on the dozer and excited to see how it's going to work. Install once and cry once is a good way to look at it...

I am operating cat 313 since 4 weeks now! i can not get the taste of hitachi,volvo,kobelco , !! There is no feeling and very jumpy, yes I have set all the controlablity setups for my self but still don’t acting like hydrolic digger

The 313's engine is about the size of the pony engine back in the day, but with 50 times more torque and horse power. Today's diesels are amazing! Did you say what size bucket you have for the 313? Great addition to your fleet!
Thanks Dave. It is a 36" bucket. And you are right, this little engines turned out the power to run the hydraulics for sure...
