@@magicsmurfy The Mongols were different, first off, Russia wasn't a unified state, it was still multiple smaller states at that point in time. Secondly, the Mongols came from the East, even if Russia was a unified state it's likely they'd still be conquered. Historically the Russian strategy of scorched earth has only worked because they've been able to just retreat East until the enemy starved. But you can't retreat to the East if you're being invaded from the East, this is why Russia expanded into Siberia.

Today the left flank of the Kursk region. Ukrainian supply routes to the forward units are starting to fall apart. Zelensky's adventure has yet to collapse completely, but the first signs are already appearing.
Nevertheless, Ukrainian Society understands that they have invested a lot of effort and resources in this operation, so they are trying to somehow hold on to the existing territories in order to continue the "media victory of storming Sudzha "Pyaterochka". That is why the Kiev regime is preparing a line of defense located to the south of Sudzha, in particular, along the bank of the Psel River. Ukraine is also preparing Sudzha for urban battles, deliberately trying to turn it into an analogue of Popasnaya/Bakhmut/Volchansk. How many Ukrainians will die in this case is not important to the Ukrainian Armed Forces command.

The whole Kursk operation was just to show that the ucranians are able to "do something" and "bring the war to Russia",just a moral boost, an expensive PR stunt and in the west a lot of people believed this bullcrap...but here in Switzerland 🇨🇭 the rabid anti Russian Newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung wrote from the beginning that this Kursk offensive was a dead end way from the strategic perspective.

The real question is could they do it again? NATO can keep throwing money and gear at the problem but the soldiers are loosing morale, at a certain point there will be no will to fight. Fear is contagious and we are already seeing more and more routes. No amount of money can stop that.

One battalion is not just 3 platoons , is sbout 3 companies , one company have 3 to 4 platoons.
I think the Ukranians are seriously exagerating the size of their units ...and if you look at the experience left in those units the situation is even more dire...
Battalion is 2 companies, every companies 4 platoons, every platoons have about 40 soldiers. So far, when I was a soldier.
Battalion is four companies Alpha,Bravo,Charlie,Delta and if it’s a battle group you add in a squadron of tanks
@@NenadRaos I was a Sargent on a NATO brigade in Portugal during the last 80's , my company have 4 platoons , my battalion have 4 companies , my brigade have 3 mechanized battalions , one main battle tank battalion , artillery and engineering battalion . Of course it was a mix brigade to fulfill our compromissos in north Italy by NATO but regarding battalion like organization it was similar in almost every NATO army on that time . A platoon may had between 30 to 40 personnel ( soldier , Sargent's and oficial) .
@@NenadRaos Depends on the country and what type of unit it is in the U.S. an Infantry Company is 3 platoons and HQ and a Battalion is 3 Companies and an HQ. Mechanized Infantry could be slightly different I can't really speak to that just light Infantry.
