QOTD: Metagross, that mon is so great even without his Mega Evo, being a non meta mon which is beneficial specially for close team sheet where people don't really know what to expect and you can use that to your advantage, doesn't really need much support, it's physical and immune to intimidate, can use AV, can have a priority move, could explode in some scenarios with tera normal and like normal gem, can run Psychic Fangs to destroy opposing screens, it's good against indeedee/ Sneasler Psyspam, can benefit of psychic terrain as well, could run a weakness policy set with a bulldoze mon next to it like Salamence or Farig (I got destroyed by that once in the ladder if I remember right), can be a huge damage dealer under Trick Room, can be a good "recipient" for Coaching mons, could run Tera Flying next to Garchomp and Excadrill, could run Choice Band with Trick to break some annoying mons, so many good options is actually insane how this mon is not used enough, most people are just really one dimensional, this exemplifies that not every Pokémon that is outside the meta is necessarily bad or close to it, at least in case of Reg H
Making me miss assault vest special attacking Salamence pressing a weak bulldoze to proc weakness policy metagross and no speed reduc due to clear body from 2017 haha. Very good take Metagross def a Metaboss
Scyther has been the most underrated Reg H pokemon for me. so many good fighting types and grass types that it can do crazy damage to with dual wingbeat and close combat is great coverage. dual wingbeat breaking sash is especially nice against sneasler. can OHKO some non bulky Volcaronas and Annihilapes. can run moves like sword dance, quick guard, feint, tailwind, etc. depending on the role that you need it to fill just unfortunate that your eviolite is almost always going to porygon 2 or electabuzz/magmar
@asglelele its a toss up to me. I've used frosmoth on the ladder and got up to the top 1500. Which is really high for myself personally. Ice scales plus a quiver dance will outlive even a life orb make it rain.
I just played against this team in ladder, by the ranked 10(!) player. I have only been playing VGC for a couple months now, and have been watching your videos. I watched this video the other day and felt much more prepared to take on the team, and I got the win! Thanks for the videos, I can feel myself learning and getting better.
Aaron! I just wanna say thank you, your videos are a great break to my working week and this is one of my favourite pokemon series ever! Love the hard work you put into your videos!
QOTD: flamigo because it hits rillaboom and incineroar for super effective damage. It can hit ghost types with fighting type moves due to scrappy and it ignores intimidate.
QOTD: My GOAT 2017 Arcanine, the mon was literally most used pokemon in 2017 vgc and it’s one of the OG 555 BST. You can build it so many ways and it’s got great bulk/attacking stats/coverage/support moves and a great 95 speed stat which is faster than a lot of the meta. Fast will-o-wisp/flare blitz/snarl/it even gets close combat. Can’t forget it’s got intimidate. There’s a reason it was the most used mon before Incin got its hidden ability.
Aaron, pretty sure if you stay in on that turn at 1:27:25, you win the game, I got really surprised you didn't noticed that crucial option after the game is over Also I think ice types should've been immune to haze
QOTD: I think Hisuian braviary is underrated! It’s so versatile in that it has access to tailwind as well as the fact that it’s base speed is lower mid tier so I feel that with investment you can use it in trickroom or tailwind. It has access to tinted lens Tera psychic expanding force which just hits everything for tons of damage. The downside with this set is that you have to Tera away from flying to benefit from psychic terrain. You could also go the route of scope lens + esper wing for high crit chance (not sure if it’s guaranteed or not). At 110 base HP it’s fairly bulky and there’s just so many different sets I could think of that this Pokémon would do well with.
@@jordankeeter1339 Sheer force life orb pretty good too And about the scope lens set, pretty sure is not guaranteed since you only has 2 increases on crits, and to guarantee it you need 3 points
I think support Blastoise is slept on, frankly. Fake Out + Flip Turn then Life Dew, Helping Hand, Yawn, or Haze is a really strong support movepool. I really think Blastoise offers a lot. I've been surprised that Shell Smash Blastoise has been the variant to see some play.
QOTD: slaking, While most people automatically assume slaking has to be a physical attacker due to its massive attack stat I decided to take a different approach to it, Using it as a support mon. Slaking is one of the only mons (in my opinion) bulky enough to make use of move "after you" a move that allows your teammate to move directly after the user. Utilizing this move with a little help from a friend I'll mention in a second you can achieve +1 priority attacks for a partner pokemon that can't be blocked by psychic terrian! Which is very useful againt unsuspecting opponents. Unfortunately for slaking the ability truant really nullifys its usability and forces you to bring a partner that can compensates for it but it's not the end of the world! To achieve the +1 priority "After you" I mentioned earlier you need to skill swap the ability prankster on to slaking so changing its ability was already part of the plan. The only two pokemon that can help in this regard are sableye and meowstic although I would recommend sableye with its dark and ghost type you gain important immunity too fake out and taunt from oppose prankster mons giving the line alot more consistency. After you've gifted slaking prankster all you need to do is switch into the correct sweeper for the job and you can start spamming your most powerful moves at a +1 speed completely ignoring speed tiers from your opponents trick room/tailwind! If anyone's intrested in hearing more I can continue to elaborate but this post is already long enough so just ask and I'll respond the best I can thanks for reading if you made it this far!
I like da concept but would oranguru not be better? It haz more balanced bulk maybe a lil worze (90/80/110 compared wiv 150/100/65) but alzo haz 2 good abilitiez over a harmful 1. Zupport oranguru can run taunt, after you, quazh, trick room, inztruct, imprizon, zkill zwap (zo you can hhve any prankzter pokemon next 2 it), reflect, light zcreen, imprizon, trick, encore, knock off ans yawn
@irism4ney Oranguru is a pokemon I looked at pretty heavily when looking at options for a "after you" based strategy, that along with an stockpile Clafable and a Clodsire. However none of them were able to present the staying power needed for the strategy to be performed successfully. Slakings stats will seem a little lopsided at first glance with a 150/100/65 being his base totals however utilizing the right moves and IV's can turn him into very difficult pokemon to remove. With a moveset of ice punch, amnesia, slack off, and after you, you get access to a consistent 50% heal and a way to boost your weakest defensive stat by 2 at a +1 priority on turn 1 allowing slaking to tank special spread moves surprisingly well. Finally rounding him out with an iv spread of 252H/220+D/36spD and a flying tera, slaking transforms from a presumed physical threat into defensive support pillar that refuses to get knocked down easily. Unfortunately in oranguru's case its weak defensive typing + no consistent healing and no way to permanently boost its defense stat really hold it back. This is why you'll commonly see oranguru paired with "follow me" indeedee that'll keep it safe while it sets up trick room. For this strategy to be pulled off consistently you'll want the prankster mon to be the one doing the skill swap so that way all of your interactions will happen at a +1 priority making it nearly impossible for your opponent to interrupt. If you try to skill swap with oranguru you run the chances of your prankster pokemon getting cleaved outta play before you even get the abilitys changed and thus your line falls apart. In regards to slakings ability It's definitely a double edge sword when people see both sableye and slaking in play they usually will either double target the slaking and or single target + spread move so you can use this to your advantage. Giving sableye an eject button will allow you to get a free swap into pokemon like ursaluna procking it's flame orb for turn two and shielding it from big damage on turn 1. If people ignore the sableye you can either choose to stay in or swap out, if you stay in you can skill swap truant onto one of your opponents pokemon and handicap it. If you choose to switch out into one of your sweepers you can utilize the sableye later on in the match as a meat shield to safety swap between sweepers saving valuable health on your two biggest threats! As a side note you'll probably notice that slaking isn't built for attacking this is mostly due to pokemon like inciniror being on every team you run into. After an intimidate and a parting shot slakings attack gets heavily nerfed resulting in it not being a very good attacker in the long run. however this works in your favor, while your opponents utilize their moves to lower slakings attack you have free time to get set up and without chip damage on slaking they won't have time to remove it before you get set up.
QOTD: Tinkaton and Kilowattrel imho. Too many people try to force Tinkaton into an offensive role when it has a wonderful array of supportive and disruptive moves with great bulk to utilize them. Kilowattrel's nuking potential is high yet it doesn't see that much play.
Thanks for another great video Aaron! Reg H has been awesome, there are so many cool team comps you can do pull off. As for the answer to your question at the beginning, i'm gonna have to go with Sudowoodo. Ive been using one alongside Slowbro on a trick room team with rock head, assault vest and grass tera and he has been causing mayhem lol.
Ppl still sleeping on Kommo-o. Great abilities, respectable bulk, access to strong aura sphere (one of the only great matchups into dura and the ursalunas), fares extremely well with support. Haze is its only real problem, but it's not very common these days.
Kommo-o zhould never uze aura zphere Body prezz variant already haz a fighting move and zo uzez a coverage move like flamethrower, flazh cannon or heavy zlam Clanging zcalez variant doeznt have a fighting move becauze you cant afford 2 when it'll make fairiez wall you and zo you alzo need coverage like flazh cannon or flamethrower (i like flazh cannon fur both)
@ given that there aren’t many strong dazzling gleam users in the format, you do t need protect if you give kommo-o a support with follow me and taunt (to stop TR). Aura sphere is good right now because a lot of bulky mobs have very low spdef and are weak to fighting. Also, since u don’t need protect with a support to redirect, u can run flash cannon, clanging scales, and aura sphere. Teams with that usually leave try e fire coverage to a hard trick room Torkoal core, or a fast scarfed typhlo-h.
Jesus frigin Christ, that double moth with quadruple rock weakness So frail yet so beautiful QOTD: Clear Amulet Tyranitar, everybody is hung up with Assault Vest this generation but that thing hits hard
got a silly question cos i don't actually play pokemon (but watch all these vids as well as james baek and wolfey xd): What does "finished at the end of the season with this team" mean? I thought you could chop and change any team/pokemon at any point. Does finishing with it mean it was used for x number of matches or what?
It means that when the ranked season ends (a set time period) you were utilizing that Pokémon on your team when you placed at whatever rank. So in this example, this Japanese player finished the ranked season at 19 with Frosmoth on their team. Now, the ranked season includes *every player* in the world currently playing on the ranked ladder. And the end of the ranked season is *a lot* more competitive than the beginning or middle of the season as people are trying their hardest to finish with a high rank. So finishing 19th *in the world* with such an obscure Pokémon is really something special. I hope this answers your question 🤗
@@angelitabecerra Thanks a lot! I appreciate you writing a detailed response. So it's not as if someone could fake using a mon by just having it on a party for a final screen? Not to imply this is being done, it was just a thought when I see these things mentioned in vids.
@lh3424 No. The most "faking" that can be done is having a Pokémon on your team but never bringing it into battle. But on high ladder, you're handicapping yourself to effectively 5 Pokémon then. And the odds of being able to pull something like that off are incredibly slim

I have a Tera water frosmoth team I lead grimking (grimmsnarl slowking) Grim sets up screens while king sets up chilly reception if the opposing lead grants frosmoth a free in that is. But when it gets going it does and parting shot on grim weakens the further. That grants king a chance to come in and acid spray while frosmoth blizzards kill after one quiver.
I think an underrated mon that i may or may not be bringing to toronto regionals is Hariyama. Another wide guard user, has thick fat for all the sun teams spamming fire spread moves, and can deal with incineroar and kingambit handily.

Frosmoth took me by surprise even after I was experienced in singles and encountered it on the singles ladder
Game 7 is why I think wide lens is worth considering on Volc; that increased consistency on both heat wave and will'o wisp is invaluable.
Thank you again for another banger
Gotta say, I love that this is such a great Dual Moth team 🤩
James did a cryogonal team recently and it feels really strong
Reg H does not miss. I love Frosmoth, too! (I hope you use that 15th place Kilowattrel team, if you can!)
What a great team, 4 mons are weak to rock, two of them 4x
I have a Tera water frosmoth team
I lead grimking (grimmsnarl slowking)
Grim sets up screens while king sets up chilly reception if the opposing lead grants frosmoth a free in that is. But when it gets going it does and parting shot on grim weakens the further. That grants king a chance to come in and acid spray while frosmoth blizzards kill after one quiver.
I've been wanting to make a team with Volcarona and Frosmoth! I'm so gonna try this team!
frosmoth would df win beauty conests! bring that back!!
Im a big fan of these "protect the queen" archetypes I've been seeing throughout this gen
QOTD: Hisui Decidueye. Triple Arrows, Haze, and Taunt are so good on it. I also enjoy seeing Triple Arrows' animation in game. 😅
I think an underrated mon that i may or may not be bringing to toronto regionals is Hariyama. Another wide guard user, has thick fat for all the sun teams spamming fire spread moves, and can deal with incineroar and kingambit handily.
The regulations where there are to legendaries is just soooo entertaining. I have binge watched so many pokemon battle videos the last several weeks. Whenever legendaries are involved, I notice I don’t even watch those videos ☹️
I think personally I prefer Protect over Wide Guard on Moth, helps with longevity more reliably and stalling turns when needed
I love double moth teams!!
that 4th game is vs me lol. Overthought it since it was you but that team is sickkkk lol
QotD: I think Glimmora is a severely slept on Pokemon, to the point where I actually brought it to my first ever regional last week at Stuttgart and went 5-3 with it! I think if I'd had more practice with the team I built I could've maybe even made day 2 with the team.
Yeeess, I was fooling around with ninetales+Frostmoth and found out how dangerous they really can be😁
I bought scarlet early because I wanted to use frosmoth while it was still viable in early meta. In other words I'm so hype lmao
Murkrow, grimmsnarl, and tinkaton are slept on imo
Sneasler's pretty slept on in this format IMO, last match I had Sneasler out and three of the opposing mons went to sleep
@@anishkulkarni5901 very funny
I tried this team out a bit on showdown and Frosmoth really be an immovable object.
Man, game 5 had some brutal RNG for you
QOTD: I made day 2 at Stuttgart Regional (7-4) using Misty Surge Weezing-Galar. Setting up misty terrain by just switching in is the best counterplay you can have against Sneasler
I've been using Frosmith for a while now, I've thought it's pretty good, I've been running the same moves except for tailwind instead of quiver dance and covert cloak instead of leftovers.
QOTD: Sinistcha. Every time I use one, it almost never dissappoints.
QOTD: I'm cooking a team with Tinkaton! My favorite pokemon this gen and with Coaching or SD her hammer just destroys
QOTD: Alolan Exeggutor, it's been carrying me throughout all of reg H
LETS GOOOOO 🔥
frosmoth is one of my fave pokemon!
I feel people don't give enough to Scizor he's come in clutch a couple of times in trick room and bullet punch
Aaron, if you find a Mandibuzz or Florges team please use it 😍 I’ve been busy during this reg but I need to spend this last month using Pokémon that could actually have a chance before all the monsters come back 😂
Where can I find info on the new regulation??
@@Ryan-gk6koit’s going backwards a reg so back to legendaries :/ zzzzz
Mandibuzz came 2nd in 2017 worlds if I recall. Used to run a psychic terrain seed and it’s such a bulky mon pressing tailwind/roost/foul play/knock off!
Yeah, frosmoth has crazy effective special defense at the cost of being bug ice, so tera it and bam
I was messing with a frosmoth snow package, I ran bellydrum cetitan beside eviolite follow me clefairy. It was brutal if I could manuver properly
Game 5 RNG makes me ready for next regulation. This was an awesome format... but its time.
38:31 HOLY BULK DUDE
No dire Claw no Rain and Bridge i think i see not right ❤
What is the program you inspecting the builds?
It’s the team builder on Pokemon Showdown
I was just saying how beautiful frosmoth shiny is lil gmax butterfree
I will miss this regulation
All the pretty moths in this episode 😍
please try a weezing or gothitelle team, I love both of these mons and think they have great potential
We know itz you wolfey
QOTD: i KNOW that there's a comp that can work with charjabug, i dare you to try and make it
1:22:09 *War flashbacks* 😂
let me see some discharge rotom W
Dont make poor aaron uze rotom
QOTD: Tinkaton as an Sneasler answer.
Praise snom supremacy 🙏🏻
QOTD; Florges is Tapu Fini at Home.
Aaron Thee Cybertron❤️
QOTD: Charizard, budget Chi Yu, you have multiple options with items. Just won LAIC or went to the finals
Everynyan and their mom knowz about zard after gdanzk and laic itz no longer zlept ob
I want to see an eviolite Rhydon team!
i'm trying to get into vgc, borrowing some teams and trying to play ranked battles for the first time, and i've lost to 3 frosmoth in a row
Moths! Moths! Moths!
But have you tried marvel rivals
game 7 is truly unfortunante
LETS GOOOOOO
