When using a microfiber cloth or even paper towel to clean, make sure you don’t use a side you touch back on the mirror/window. Your oils in your hand will just be put back on giving streaks and more. Clean side only.

Save your Shoulders and some Dawn soap. Use only 4 - 6 drops of Dawn on a mildly wet cloth, then use a squeegee, wiping the squeegee after each pass. You will be done in half of the time.

I don't think you mentioned it, but I see you kept your lights off. Good on you! Keeping the lights and their generated heat is good way to prevent premature drying and streaking at the top of the mirror.

I use white vinegar and microfiber cloths. I mix it 50/50. It cuts through the grime on my very dirty mirrors and leaves them streakless and sparkling.

Same here! Old-timers didn't call it "The Rag" for nothing!😁 Newspaper, (the basic paper kind not the glossy,) will bring any glass surface back to brand new condition! Just be sure to wear some gloves or your fingers will end up black as pitch!

The best way to "dry" the mirror after cleaning it with the soap is a squeegee. Avoiding multiple "rinses" with a cloth will cut the cleaning time in half using the squeegee. Dawn is great.

You took a quick easy job and turned it into a lengthy more difficult job. Just take a container and rinse the soap, then squeegee the water off, done! If for some reason one doesn’t want to rinse, then just use ammonia & water and squeegee. You’re making way too much work for yourself.

The cost of windex (etc.,) is pretty low considering the number of mirrors it can clean. You just showed us how to save $0.05 in WIndex, and use $0.03 in water and dish detergent. Oh, yeah, you made a quick project arduous and a lot less quick. But you saved $0.02 and brought back the drudgery of housework.

    • @CleanWithConfidence

Windex doesn't work as well as this method. Especially when the mirror is really foggy like this was.

I use white vinegar mixed 50/50 with distilled water, in a spray bottle. I spray the mirror and spread/clean the surface with a sheet of quality kitchen paper. Then I use a clean 100% cotton teatowel to polish the mirror and remove the streaks. You can actually feel the cloth slide really easily when you've hit the sweet spot and 'squeaky clean' has occured!😊
