Amazing explanation! Had trouble understanding exactly what leads to a shallow water blackout, thanks.

Awesome awareness for SWB, lost my nephew in the pool from continuous breathhold activities. Thankyou for creating this fantastic educational video!

Wish I could save people because I don't this to happen to me. My mother's Father died while he was swimming in small lake in a temple in India.
When I try to imagine the situation I feel how much dangerous and panic situation it is for people.
Unfortunately still many many people die while swimming or murder or electrocution or road accidents and many more. Just please be safe and keep other safe as well.
I also have a through of doing cliff jumping and swimming underwater. I know it's not possible but wish I could swim in ocean and go deep 400-500 metres. It's quite dangerous.

Hi, great video. I was wondering - a normal breathe up where one breathes deep is always in a way hyperventilation, but when is it too much, really? I've heard people say that as long as your exhales are longer that the exhales and you breathe in slowly, it's ok, but I'm not sure if that's true. Do you think that breathing in deep for 4 sec and out for 6 is ok?

You didn’t mention one of the clearest indicators of SWB; the release of air before reaching the surface

First thing to do is ditch the victim’s weight belt. Increased buoyancy will greatly assist.
