That seems like a lot of work to cook rice in a wok. I rinse my rice in a strainer under the faucet. I transfer it to a glass casserole dish with a cover and cook it in the microwave. I do have a heat sensor setting on my microwave for rice. I just set the sensor and wait for the beep to go off when it's done. It cooks pretty quickly and perfect every single time.

If you’re soaking it for cleaning I recommend adding some white vinegar. I use aged/sweet vinegar to fluff rice as it cooks.
