Thank you! Multiple times this week I've been threatened at my insurance call center job by customers who will "report us to the insurance commissioner" "take us to small claims court" and "contact the media" as well as demanding a supervisor. Usually it's not this bad so I needed some extra tips. I appreciate the advice on how to respond, and esp the acknowledgement that all threats affect us on a visceral and emotional level. I do try to avoid taking it personally (mentally) but emotionally it still affects me somewhat. I'm just not the kind of person that would throw a fit at a random stranger and don't understand how others can do so.
Hi Em, I'm so glad the content was helpful. It can be truly difficult to receive these threats, particularly multiple times in a day or a week. It is great that you are looking for solutions and taking action! It's a challenge to depersonalize in the moment, but we just have to remember, it's rarely about us. Thanks for sharing! Stay strong.
I’d rather someone do anything they like no matter how negative which has happened with me in the past I’m strong and can handle everything well so it doesn’t really affect me however reporting it to the manager sounds dangerous (horrible) to me for whatever reason 😢but these tips are great pretty much regardless of the situation I think. they are greatly appreciated thank you ❤friend
Thank you so much! This is always a challenging topic because of the potential for escalation. Everyone's individual context is incredibly important in using (or not using) these ideas. Glad you found value in them!
