Thank you both for your time. Most older players lob on purpose other players who they know can't get it. And they lob because they can't do anything else. I'm almost 70 so I know. :) Lobbing and poaching are both super underrated.
Benefits of the lob are many: sometimes it can be used as a "winner" during a rally, but also it can be a pathway for one team to go from "neutral" to "offensive" position at the kitchen. Also the third shot lob works really well on players crashing really hard on their 2nd! I like to hit lobs in the back corners of the court vs the middle. On a short lob where the team being lobbed doesn't have to turn their back to you should maintain their current position and stay low......if the opponents turn their back to you to chase the lob, crash the net!
I had one guy crashing hard on his 2nd who could hammer accurate volleys out of the air at full stretch. I never did figure out how to keep him back. I've always wanted a 3rd shot lob in my bag ever since.
When lobbed, ALW and B Johns always go back together even though Ben usually does the drop return -- and he's very good at it. But if the drop is a bit long it seems to me it's better for both players to be back to defend against a drive.

Great stuff! Please keep this up! Thanks!
Lob the one you're with!
I love this new Pod, but I also love the old one. Who says you can't do both pods as they really are different. The only limitation is your time.
