Thats why he has forgettable songs. The guy can't structure, or write a song to save his life. He wants all the limelight and can't collaborate with the band. He'll go down as rock's most wasted talent, and the biggest rock diva alongside Axl. Lol!

@@arsnotoria3755Complete bullshit. He had great songs with Steeler, Alcatraz, and his solo work. His work with the New Japan Philharmonic was also phenomenal.

@@mr.brenman2132 it was nothing innovative, and it all sounded very dated and similar to other artists before him. You can't ride coat tails without some form of creative and innovative writing. Yngwie is technically one of the best shredders to ever live. His songs just lack substance and feeling. There's really nothing special. He's a limelight diva, and that is a cold hard fact.

@@Re-Todd_Howard You can look it up and hear it from Vai himself where he says EVERYONE at the time had to step up their game because of Yngwie. Every guitarist had his stuff on repeat trying to figure out what he was doing. Go watch Yngwies coffee talk with Steve. They have a great chat about the old days and you can tell how much they admire each other.

    • @Re-Todd_Howard
      @Re-Todd_Howard ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@Ro7ard but the claim was “no one could play like this” not “EVH and Vai recognized Malmsteen’s skills and their competitiveness kept them on their toes”. I think Vai and Eddie could play anything Malmsteen could and vice versa. It’s more about who could come up with new crazy shit first, and Eddie won in that category.

I was blessed to see Yngwie during his Trilogy tour, can you imagine looking out over your audience and seeing in their faces that you are a phenomenal guitar player?! That’s what he saw in mine, I was up close and got guitar pick too. During a song Yngwie got this unbelievably beautiful woman from the audience to come up on stage, she was dancing around Yngwie all sexy and stuff while he was shredding, she closed her eyes and kept dancing sexy and Yngwie walked off to the side of the stage playing his guitar and leaned up against his stack of Marshals and watched her. She eventually opened her eyes and realized she had been dancing up there all by herself. That moment seemed to last forever.
Yngwie also smashed one of his strats and threw it out in the audience. Seen him a time or two afterwards.

From the moment he picked up the guitar, he was told he would never amount to anything with it. But, rather than be defeated. Yngwie practiced and gained a personality that waved off this constant negativity. Even refusing to go to school and practicing instead.
Once he was grown, this personality appeared arrogant to some. But, was born out of him being constantly being told he would fail ..but refusing to accept that. And, by the time he was 18, he'd won the argument with audiences! :)

He didnt play against easy competition. He played when guitar players had the highest expectation in history in the golden age and he still played the best or at least as good as he did on your opinion.
And he developed completely independently. That is sheer proof competing against yourself is the only real competition.
Anyone who has ever had a real breakthrough in anything does it alone and in isolation.
You will get really good competing with others, but theres many negatives, but you will only rise as high as a potential challenge. Or fall to a challenge to high above you.
As he says he practiced to be better than he was yesterday a little bit. A swedish country boy became the best in the world in a town that didnt like him. He was a big fish and didnt know it. Dont let a negative environment make you think you arent valuable.
Im so glad he didnt. He is one of a kind.

Malmsteen is the master -just like me when I was younger I would play for 10-15 hours a day. I've barely touched a guitar over the past 3 years or more.

This before Graham Bonnett get strangled with the microphone cable ,because Graham said :" that night we fired from the band" .
The reason was Yngwie playing a solo and Graham accidently unplugged the amp cable and Yngwie go furious backstage and strangled Graham and him say to Yngwie :" Yngwie WTF you doing? .

He was a great. I played but even though I sucked compared to him, I still couldn't stand what he plays, ...though I know he is better....
I would still throw up in my arse before going to his concert even though I know he is one of greatest guitarist on the planet.
And I think the reason is he just reinvented the old. He never tried to be new.
Drives me nuts how a guy can have that talent and speed and try to sound like bach but different on every damn song.
Maybe he was bach in a previous life, reincarnated, and forgot he was supposed to be someone better than Bach????

What is insane..... Thank god Eddie van halen was in a pop glamour love band cause this juggernaut if placed with the right band would have erased Eddie's biggest run ever 84 and 5150

Van Halen wasn't a "pop glamor love band." Van Halen was a hard rock party band. Know your history bruh.

GTFO. The reason he never made it bigger was because he wasn’t a great song writer. Even Ronnie Jame Dio said it. Talented guy. But, What rock band wants a guitar player trying to imitate a violin? His solos were all over the place and not melodic enough for me.

What a revelation ladies and gentlemen, people experience thinning as they grow older. Shocking.
