Aw, that’s awful! I’m so sorry that happened to you. I have a safe word with friends and family. Whenever I call them and say that particular word they’ll know to keep talking and ask me yes or no questions on what’s going on. I’ve never had to use that word, but it’s helped my confidence a lot! Hope this will not happen again😘
So sorry to hear this and yes unfortunately creeps like this are everywhere and especially if you're female or female presenting there's always a chance this could happen to you anywhere. This was not your fault at all, you should have been able to enjoy your walk without being harassed. I've learned not to be afraid to make a scene if I need to, creeps like this don't want attention from onlookers. Hope you're feeling better soon, you don't have to apologize for prioritizing your health especially with an HG pregnancy. Thankfully the cure is having the baby so you should be feeling better soon!
Yeah, creeps exist everywhere, and the Netherlands unfortunately is also not immune to that. I also guess this is more common to happen to women. I sure hope this was a first and a last.
I am a man and it even happens to me. Just keep on walking and if it is at day time, go into a shop, office or pub or ring at a house and call the police there. Always have your phone with you so you can call the police. But to be fair it just doesn’t happen that very often, mentally disturbed people are everywhere and you can at least be sure in this country that they are not armed with guns. Furthermore Just ask for help with people, they will not refuse it. You will forget it, untill after years and years it will happen again. I am almost 70 and it happened to me maybe 3 times in my live.
Yeah.. I'm 41, and also a man, but indeed, I have had some scary moments as well. It can happen anytime, anywhere. But on the other hand, you can't let fear control you. I guess it's a part of life. It shouldn't be, but there you go.
So sorry, must have been really scary. If this happens ever again, just ring the bell of the office. If you explain they will for sure help you. And be Dutch, so be rude to him, tell him to pi..s off and leave you alone, like now and yell. The more attention you draw to yourself, the quickest he will be gone.
I’m sorry that you had to go through this. You would have to be pretty delusional to think this is a way to score a date. Something similar happened to me a long time ago. Although I hated to admit it (I didn’t want to give up any freedoms) it did make me more cautious, especially at night. I think it’s pretty rare to experience something like this during daytime. I really hope this doesn’t effect your sense of safety too much.
Even if you dont have any license or anything jt still helps to report to police, you can do it Online if you want. Because if they get multiple reports from/about that area they will be more likely to hang around there. Now they simply dont know anything about a creep walking around there ya know?
@@livinglife.digital3399 also, make sure the European alarm number 112 is set under a speed dial setting in a way that your phone also sends your location to the 112-dispatcher. (If you have an IPhone it’s pressing the on-off knob 5 times quickly after each other).
I'm really sorry you had to experience this. Sadly, women can encounter men like this everywhere - also in The Netherlands, also in parts of the country where you don't expect it. I've experienced similar situations ( living in South Holland, The Netherlands ). You really do have to go to the police in situations like this, even when you think they can't do anything with it. It will give you some power back just by telling your story and feeling heard. I would advise you to always take your phone with you. Just put it on mute when you don't want to be disturbed. That way you enjoy your me-time but you can reach for help if you need to in case of ( any ) emergency. I hope you recover from this soon. You've got the support of all of us here, I'm sure - you've certainly got mine! Lots of love , Susanne 💞
Sad to say, there are a lot of Creeps out there.. I have this problem as long as I remember growing up.. Don't let this put you down.. You are a strong woman, and the Netherlands is still a safe country to live in
I am very sorry you went through that nasty experience. Unfortunately you will find creeps all over the world and these guys can be very scary and persistent. However most of the time, if you just keep walking away - or like you did just enter an office or a shop they will give up eventually. Unlike in the USA the chances of being abducted or shot are very small. So it can be very scary and upsetting, but rarely very dangerous. And if it makes you feel safer then - for the time being - only walk on times and in places where you know there are people around.
Thank you, Yvon! You're absolutely right about the reduced or near non-existent threat of guns here because it certainly crossed my mind that he could have been armed.
There is no excuse for that to happen. In every society, how safe it might be this can happen. Luckily it does not happen often, however always carry a phone so you can call 112, the Dutch 911 number. These accidents really need to be reported though, when the police is aware these things happen, they might be able to find a pattern in the behavior and find the guy
to be true , 112 is a European !! emergency number , and it is for free , just put that number on your sreen and in case of ... with just one click you are connected ..
Yes report it, because This Guy could be a stalker or worst. Waiting in his car for a woman to pass. Togther we can make This country better! I heard in a video that you had very few friends. Has this gotten better already? Hope so!
I’m sorry this happened to you ! Must’ve been quite a scare ! You definitely could have buzzed at the office building and asked them to let you in or for them to call the police. Next time (I hope there isn’t one!) just call the police or go into a building or shop and just ask for help.
Next time it happens you must report it because he will definitely target another person. I had a similar experience but it's okay to be rude from the beginning. He obviously realized you're not Dutch and were very polite in the beginning. Next time say sorry not interested leave me alone and if he doesn't say I'll scream he'll leave as fast as he arrived.
Sorry to hear that somebody was following you,I can imagine it must have been verry scary. I can only give you the advise to allways have your phone with you !!!
Next time (I hope there won't be one.) Just ring the bell of that office building and ask them to call the police, because you are being harrased. And yes these things can happen here still. Never go into quit alleyways and late in the afternoon evening nights stay in well lit areas where people are about perferably take someone with you if you can. If that's not posible indeed never forget your phone.
That does sound like a scary situation. I think you did the right thing by telling him you're married, and to go into that office building. You probably would've gotten help from the people there if you'd asked for it, but I can imagine that's a scary thing to ask for too. But most people will gladly let you sit for a while, or even help you call the police, while you drink some water, in hopes the creep leaves or gets arrested for sexual harassment. It's brave of you to open up about this. I can't imagine how difficult it must've been to make this video. If you haven't already, and think you're okay with it, you could talk to the police about what happened. They might not be able to find him now, but if this is a serial offender, every report can help them get a little closer. And with the way this guy behaved, I don't think this was his first, or last, time bothering women who were just minding their own business. Also, police can get you in contact with Slachtofferhulp, which is an organisation that's there to help victims. What you went through was terrifying and has left a scar that needs healing. Sadly it happens. My ex wife, she's from Romania, experienced the same. Some men seem to think that every exotic looking woman is willing to have sex. These kinds of idiots would never approach a woman looking obviously Dutch. My ex dressed sexier than the average female here, Eastern European women generally do. You know, mini skirts, hot pants, high heels. And she was approached in the middle of the day, in a busy street. She told me the man stayed in his car, while touching himself. I was always proud of her, dressing more attractive than the average Dutch woman, but since that time she started to dress more conservative. Which is a pity and a shame. I mean, what are these men thinking? I've never felt the urge to approach women like that, and I've travelled a lot to Hungary, Russia, Ukraine etcetera. Idk, I'd be so ashamed to talk like that to a woman I don't know. Just a matter of education I guess. Respect, for everyone. I hope you won't experience this a second time. Just be aware and report these things immediately to the police. You're a beautiful young woman, but that gives no one the right to approach you like that. Greetings and an easy pregnancy from now on, John
This is not normal, so sorry this happend to you. You did the right thing. Go to a rendum house/office and ask for help and let them call the Police. Nobody will leave you alone.
So sorry that you have to go true that, i think its a isolated situation, sounds to me the guy was creepy and crazy, sadley we a some of those people in our country, i hope you still feeling safe. xxx
Gross, but this happens everywhere. It’s happened to me a few times in The US, Germany, and France. Luckily, despite what’s considered to be a soft voice, I’m from a rough city in the US, and I use my loud voice and cursing to scare them off. In the US, I was just lucky that other people stopped and looked, so he ran off. I’m glad you’re ok. Shame on him for scaring you like that. It might be common, but it’s not ok.
You have this in every country, including the Netherlands, just make a report to the police with location and description of the person and behavior, maybe he also harasses others and if the police do not know, they can not do anything about it
Its sad you got thuis experience. I hope it didn't ruinate your safety feeling. Please, go always to the police with incidents like this. The dutch police is taking stuff like this very seriously and they will offer you the help You need.
I am terribly sorry this happened to you. That is extremely creepy and scary to be in that situation. Nobody deserves to be verbally sexually harrassed and followed. For women evereywhere this is sadly not an unfamiliar experience and it is very wrong. The racing thoughts and fear sounds familiar. I am so sorry. I hope you are okay and you are feeling a bit better day by day. Bless you. I think you are very smart to have walked into that office and to decide to take your phone next time. You could put your phone on flight mode if you want to be unplugged and use it for emergencies only, so you feel technology free and light. We all deserve to switch off and unwind and feel free. Also please never feel like a bother to any human being to ask for help and say you are being stalked and feel scared, like walking up to someone on the street or ringing someone's door bell. Don't hesitate to reach out and do what you have to, in order to feel safe and get rid of the aggressor asap. I have gone up to strangers in the past in this situation and they walked me home, to the bus stop, or called an emergency number and the stalker ran off in that situation. You are loved and powerful in the world. You are never truly alone and you don't have to deal with something like that alone. Take care, God bless your soul and happiness
What a creep. Alas, we do have creepy guys in this country too.;-( Not all of them realize that no means no & it's likely this person was either high, drunk or both. I've had quite a few situations like this myself and usually in 'the Randstad'. I've been teaching my daughter the joyous use of a well-placed knee between the legs and fingers/knuckles in the eyes just so she'll be able to ward off men like this. Another tip would be to put a small canister of hairspray in your handbag/pocket. It can be used as a sort of mace. Can always give you an extra edge so you can get away. Last tip, grab your phone and call your husband. Usually this also make them go away. Hope this will never happen to you again!
Unfortunately that this had to happen to you, i would think no one off the offices would be angry if you would pushed their bell, and you would be able to call someone or they would helped you otherwise not that there is any thing you’ve done wrong. Hopefully the last bad experience or at least the last you’ve seen of this man.
It is sad that you had this experience. The Netherlands is pretty safe, but there is always a small chance of running into some loon. There aren't that many of these, but there are always some frustrated incels prowling the streets.
Yeah, and you could state that in the Netherlands, they're extra dangerous/threatening because we tend not to meddle in other people's business and we don't carry any self-protection. On the other hand, if you scream for help it's pretty likely for some people to come along and the purp to run.
I’m sorry to hear this. I hope you’re right saying that it’s very safe. I do believe it is, but that doesn’t mean that nothing ever happens to anybody. You’ll find crazy people everywhere. Sure wish this is the last time for you.
Yes we got creeps too.. unfortunately.... mostly they are dumber harmless types bu t the directness and ignorance can be intimidating ... really dangerous types are much more subtle ..
I'm sorry this happened to you. This does sound like an isolated situation, but stuff like this does still happen in the Netherlands. It just happens on a smaller scale, which makes it extra surprising to find yourself in such a situation. I don't think you stated where this was exactly, and I do sincerely think this happens a lot more in the north than in the south for example. After all, tons of people want to live in the north more, including all types of illegals and crazies. This isn't to say they cause more problems by default, but it is to say that these places are more densely populated so you not only find more of them, but it's also the areas where you'll find the most institutions and people with mental issues who need to live close to such institutions etc. In the south, it's a bit less densely populated and we barely have prisons, mental facilities etc. We actually have to travel quite a bit for it in general. Also, older people tend to move south for the peace and quiet, so there's way more younger people in the north (for the buzz and life). Obviously, younger people tend to be more problematic and in your face than old people rotting behind their house plants :P... It's a rude way of putting it, but I think people will understand it.
@@livinglife.digital3399 oh, well, Dordrecht one of the most criminal cities in the Netherlands, as it's very close to Rotterdam, the most criminal city in the Netherlands, lol. I literally know at least 15 people who've had similar situations in Dordrecht, especially at the train/bus station! I myself was actually nearly assaulted in Dordrecht that one time I was there.
@@livinglife.digital3399 The saying "Hoe dichter bij Dord, hoe rotter het wordt" exists for a reason. It's one of the cheapest city's to live in near Rotterdam/The hague and that attracts a lot of low income people to the area.
Was it a native dutch or import .. as this is somting that needs to be reported as this is unexaptable . a few years ago there was an idiot that drove around in a car stabbing woman and teenage girls that where running outside . a discription on who and what should be reported to the police as we dont want some one doing the same as a few years ago .
I didn't really enjoy the video. All I felt was being so sorry for what happened to you. Also I want to say it's very brave to basically tell your story. I think I would probably have called the police as soon as I got home, even if I didn't get the license plate. Maybe the police can't do anything, but maybe the police has gotten other reports on this guy as well. And they might already know who he is as well. In any case, it might also help you to basically just tell your story, to process it. And actually, they might even put you in contact with victim help (not sure if they would, but there's a chance). Years ago, I was in Amsterdam for a friend's birthday, and he let me stay at his place. The next day I decided to do a bit of exploring before going back to Groningen, where I'm from. At one point I was in a shopping street. It was broad daylight, lots of people were on the street. I see a guy walking to me from my right. He already seems a bit weird, like maybe he used something. As he walks toward me, he just kicks me, pretty hard as well, against my leg, shouting something threatening. I didn't say much back because I feared it would only provoke another reaction from him, and I don't know what more he's capable of. Then he went on his way. There was a moment of fear and then of being totally flabbergasted. I called the police for that. They couldn't do anything, but at least I tried, and that already made me feel better. Because it wasn't normal what happened to me. And it sure isn't normal what happened to you. So... you are more than justified to call the police if anything like this ever happens again. I do hope it won't be necessary.
Depends on where you are in the Netherlands, Amsterdam is for example NOT safe, nor is Rotterdam, or any big city in the west of the country. ALWAYS call the police if you do not trust a situation , try to take a picture with your phone etc.. Do Krav maga, learn how to defend yourself.. Or get a big dog :)
Don't talk nonsense. Those places are pretty safe for cities and chances you're in any real danger are pretty small. The best defence is to learn to run fast, don't buy into the self defence nonsense. If anything learn some kind of wrestling or judo skills as it is about the only thing that can actually teach you to overcome more powerful adversaries in any real situation.
What a horrible experience... If you think you're able to give a reliable description of that guy, you could consider reporting this to the police. If you feel uncertain out doors because of this, you might like to talk to a professional.
Sucks that happened to you, really creepy guy. I think you probably could've buzzed yourself in, I don't believe anyone would turn down a woman in distress.
That sounded truly awful, but unfortunately these kind of things happen even in a so called safe place like The Netherlands.......I don't know if this could help at all in a situation like this, but perhaps you could take out your phone and start recording him....? ....I don't know, you might want to inform yourself by qualified experts who are dealing with these issues on a regular base....?
You'll find that morons can be found everywhere in the world, if it ever happens again just make sure you attract as much attention to yourself as possible, scream, wave down cars etc. and you'll find that whoever is harassing you will leave quickly . What is the logo you use at the intro of your video's?
I really have no idea what a thumps-up for this clip would mean. Sorry you had to experience this and it reflects bad on men in general, making women feel unsafe.

That is scary...I am so sorry for you...
Take care look for someone who love to take a walk with you
Thank you, Carmen!
she just told a whole story about someone who wanted lol

Thanks Evert! Me too...
Thank you; It happened in Dordrecht. It definitely caught me off guard.
@@medpack having a low income is not really related to being unhinged though
What a creep!!! Hope he gets arrested or something. Harassing anybody is a s.... thing to do.
sorry to hear:( hopefully it will not happen again! Doeidoei
Thank you, Semmy! i hope so too..
This is something they don't want to talk about unfortunately.
What ethnicity was he? Was he Dutch, middle-eastern, African? I thought Dutch men don't behave this way???
@@chubbymoth5810 Rotterdam and Amsterdam have the highest crime rates in the Netherlands.
@@oranjeboven6363 true but compared to the rest of the world it's still pretty low many usa cities as example has much higger crime rate
@@aliciasschorra1306 The last thing we should do is compare ourselves to other nations, particularly the United States.
Thank you! He was SO CREEPY!
You'll find that morons can be found everywhere in the world, if it ever happens again just make sure you attract as much attention to yourself as possible, scream, wave down cars etc. and you'll find that whoever is harassing you will leave quickly
.
What is the logo you use at the intro of your video's?
Thanks for the tip!
The logo is actually two L'S for Living Life and the 3 dots symbolize the 3 members of our family🙂
I really have no idea what a thumps-up for this clip would mean. Sorry you had to experience this and it reflects bad on men in general, making women feel unsafe.
