This is a reupload due to a copyright claim, but this is one of my favorite videos I've made this year so I hope you still enjoy it even if you've already seen it!
For me a movie monster that scared me when I was a kid was the other mother from Coraline
Bummer, you had to do a re-edit incredible video and moving tribute to an icon
What changes were made?
Who filed the claim?
I will rewatch this entire thing to get you any revenue I can.
Reupload or not, it's Harryhausen, deserves to be rewatched
I still watch Ray's work with amazement! He was the best of the best!
Sindbad's 7th Voyage is one of my biggest childhood movie memories and to this day, one of my favourite dragons. Before a long trainride, that one will find it's way onto my iPad together with Highlander.
Ray. The man. The myth. The legend.
Glad to see this video reuploaded. Convinced me to finally watch 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans. All fun times.
I was lucky enough to meet Ray some years back, a wonderful man.
Finally, I wish I could have watched this when it first came out. Glad I got to watch it now
There is a cinematic award far higher than any Oscar. That is the status of a "Legend" - which Ray Harryhausen certainly earned!
My favorite Harryhausen films have always been Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. To me, those are his greatest works. I remember renting those VHS 📼 from the video store as a Lil kid and watch them with my Grandma at her house. Now I own them on DVD 📀 to me those are the GOATS in his film career.
I missed this taken down before but glad to see it back up!
Talos & Medusa will always give me shivers 😂😱
The Calibos transformation scene has always stuck with me. As a Catholic school kid, it was how I imagined the Morning Star's fall happened. The most beautiful & beloved of the Lord's minions, turned hideous & wrathful due to pride & envy. At least the horror of Medusa could be subdued by her rack...😲
I love any movie with Ray Harryhausen monsters
One of Ray Harryhausen's first jobs as an animator was on George Pal's Puppetoons. It was fun to find out that my two favourite stop motion animators both knew each other.
I saw "Clash of the Titans" in the theatre when it was released. Totally awesome!
I love Harryhausen and even share a birthday with him!
Glad this video has returned! I TRULY hope you FINALLY get to do a video on my favourite film of all time - THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY 😉
Harryhausen's Talos haunts me to this day
Fuck Yeah!
I come online and see a Matt Drapper video about Harryhausen?
Today is a good day.
Thanks for the amazing video Matt ❤
Such an underrated art form
I want to bring this style of creature animation back to the modern era. CG is cool but this has it's own vibe as well
Inspiring definitely. Thanks for the video
Was JUST looking up any high-def/4k collections of his work, nice timing lol
As a harryhausen fan I loved your video!😁🦖🦍🦂🐝
A true “master” of his craft
Glad to see this reuploaded!💚💚
I always was intrigued by those early stop.motion achievements. Humanity went on the decline when they stopped using them.
You should do a video about the unmade Ray Harryhausen projects that never got made.
Good job.
Minor correction though: Ray didn't start working with Charles Schneer until It Came from Beneath the Sea. 😉
Also, no Mysterious Island clips? 😜
I need to know everything about Sinbad Goes to Mars
Unmade Harryhausen Films video when?
Some of the books Matt mentioned talks about these at length...a vid on them would be very interesting.
It bums me that we never got "Force of the Trojans", a cancelled sequel to Clash of the Titans.
He made cinema better
So much respect🥲
The *ORIGINAL*? Willis O'Brien.
Matt Draper is the shit man
Hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah
I’ve seen some Harryhausen clips that had their FPS increased and it loses all the charm. It’s like when your child starts pronouncing a word correctly instead of cute mispronunciation
nah man I think godzilla clears in a fight no diff
Lost art- sad
Eyy
Can you do a video on captian America white
As I have noted elsewhere, it would be lamentable and unfortunate to discover that some of these props may have ended up in some bone yard somewhere. And for equal time I hope you are not minimizing the work and contributions of George Pal or Mr. Disney proper. And, I would never place CGI in the same class as these Giants of cinema. The humongous crews of CGI will never match the talent that these men had as a single individual. Oh, come on now, "Avatar" was 98% CGI, no real acting.
Bit bored of American accents to tell the truth, it's time for the world to take a break from US cultural toxicity.
Otherwise, I would enjoy this Matt.
Good luck.
