Two quick notes about the video:
1) I'm testing something in the thumbnail image (some of you already guessed it). will post the results later.
2) a lot of people saying that Meta is the best video generator... Maybe. I think it's very good. Currently I think Runway gen-3 is slightly better, but that's subjective. Once we can fully test it out, I'm happy to do a side by side comparison and then we can crown the king.
with that said, I'm strictly talking about the basic 'text to video'. The other 3 functionalities Meta added (personalized video, specific edits and soundtracks) those are absolutely incredible. I'm betting Meta will take the undisputed #1 spot with some minor improvements, probably very soon.

People always set the benchmark as being able to reproduce a AAA Hollywood film of 2 hours length with no post-production needed. These models are 100% going to completely upend the advertisement, corporate education/info and music video/ short form industry. Who needs to pay 100k for an ad for your product when you can AI it in an hour yourself.
On top of that, this stuff will fully catapult us into an everyday post-truth era. Imagine how teenagers will use this to try to influence their surroundings. Not talking about them making videos of them walking on the moon, but how to reduce their body weight by 5 pounds, replace their non-brand sweater with a branded sweater, remove spotty skin, asf. We are so not ready for this.

Homemade movies as well in the near future.
The sound/music generation attached to the video makes this hands down the best one so far.
In reality Skynet is even scarier than in the movies. In the movies they don't play around with it in its infancy.
Pretty good overall. There's a lack of deep thinking and real world physics understanding in some of those videos but their model will get better. The granular selection and manipulation of objects when editing is a very useful and important feature.

This might be exactly what you need:
1. Explore Meta's MovieGen and its capabilities to understand its potential in video creation.
2. Experiment with text-to-video features by providing specific descriptions to generate videos.
3. Upload photos and experiment with different scenarios to create personalized videos.
4. Utilize MovieGen's editing tools to enhance videos with background changes, effects, and more.
5. Generate AI-powered audio, including sound effects and music, using text prompts to complement videos.
I like Zucks models they are pretty decent and not overly censored. And its not the graphics that will make a model the best. Its the ability to listen and understand what you want as a creator

the whole thing is rather childish, not being negative, but we have discovered this code that works and requires some serious compute power and we think we are smart :)

I am surprised at how my feelings towards generative AI have changed.
In other words, we have come to believe that the generated AI is useless unless it looks like the real thing! !
Until just a month ago, I thought that the images produced by generative AI were sometimes unnatural.
However, now we have come to believe that generative AI must look exactly like the real thing.
The speed of this change is amazing.
In the very near future, we will no longer consider generative AI that cannot create a real movie in minutes.

While being able to make videos is obviously valuable, I think the real value of this is in having a comprehensive world model that can be merged together with the world model that the llm has. Combine that with the robotic stuff, and you'll be well on the way to ASI

Does it only come to me that I get existential fears when seeing these videos? If you extrapolate this to 5-10yrs I dont know how humankind will react to this.
No, although fear might be the wrong word (for me).
I personally think it will have serious consequences when people have to put a question mark behind anything they consume digitally. Theoretically it would be possible to generate a leader (president, royalty etc.), present it to the masses as real and do anything with it in order to steer the population. The vast vast majority will never come closer to said "leader" than a screen anyway. Another downside is that when everyone is able to produce a full length movie, no one will have an audience for their movie. The sense of community (for as much it still exists) will entirely fade into nothing.
I cannot but think about an old song by Zager and Evans. In the song "In the year 2525" they sing about the progression of mankind. More and more I think they were too conservative with their lyrics.....
wth you talking about. as someone who uses all the ai video platforms extensively I can say if what Meta showed off is real its 10x better than what is available today. Sounds like you don't actually use these ai video gen platforms yourself

Wth are you talking about? Its inpressive but 10 times better is a stretch. It still has its flaws plus we've only seen selective footage from metas new video model. I think it looks great but your exagerating and making assumptions. Wes does nothing but compliment the model in this video so your reaction desont even make sense. Also learn proper english before you try to finess someone...

And along with discarding AI generated video, real video will be discarded as well.
I so so wish people would start to be open about the potentially very real negative aspects of (generative) A.I. instead of only hailing it as the best thing since sliced bread. Anyone who now consciously discards the potential risks will be in for a massive bad surprise, sooner or later.
