The Holiday Season in Cali is one of the memorable times of the year. I remember as early as Thanksgiving the Hmong New Year Celebration have already started. One the most memorable was early 90s. Gang banging among Hmong factions has started and the Hmong New Year Celebrations were the battle grounds. I was like every other young adult male. I had just gotten with this girl and was spending time with her at a Hmong New Year Celebration. With her was another girl about the same age and was following her around everywhere we went. Not very romantic if you asked me. A few months later, to my surprise my gf told me the girl who was with her at the celebration was the gf of one of my cousins who was locked up at the juvenile detention center at that time. Being with us (with me around) reminded her so much of her BF (my cousin who was locked up). This was the song that was on her mind the whole time. Now they are who I think about when I hear this song. They are no longer together. My cousin has passed on and she remarried. To Hammer and Julie: "This song will always be in my heart and always belong to you two. Your song. ❤️ You both."
