    Sitting here with my 3 month old IVF baby daughter and my eyes are all blury. I fought so hard for her to be here. The pain of not being able to have a wanted child is mirrored and magnified by falling pregnant with a child you simply cannot have. As painful as infertility has been I'm so glad I've never been on the other end. Thank you Amanda and Jason for this compassionate tune at this important junction.

    I never felt bad about it. And my husband was with me... he is always on my side. I'm O Neg Rh Neg... wasn't ever in my cards and I never wanted it to be. 15 years as a residential staffer for minors that had no parents, parents in jail, too old to be adoptable... I raised children nobody wanted, and was not wanted by my mother, who got knocked up in the Summer of 1968. NOT the Summer of Love, not for an 18 year old who married at 16 to get out of a madhouse. So I helped the ones I could, and still remember my friends, all women like me. We knew we could help because we'd been there ourselves. Love you Amanda... and big hugs for you , Mercy, and Jason. Stay sweet.

    Thank you. It was the right choice for me at that time. It was the only choice for me, making $2.50 an hour, trying to finish college. I have raised 2 boys since and cared for thousands more with my degree.

    I've listened to this song about 50 times since Wednesday, between Apple music and TH-cam, it's breathtaking, to say the very least. Thank you for having the courage to release such an import piece of art at this moment, with the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the fate of roe vs wade at stake, our country needs this. The pain and confusion, and compassion and support in both of your voices is so transparent, it gives me chills. Thank you again for being a voice for women everywhere, this is everything!

    "Trying not to think of names, will you even think of me the same" is such an emotionally complex lyric. This song reminds me of Loretta Lynn's "The Pill" in that it's so human and nuanced.

    • @eduardamedeiros3570
      @eduardamedeiros3570 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I swear I thought about the "The Pill" while listening to this song. It's basically a "spiritual successor", for the current natal struggles of this generation.

      I hope you know being *pro-choice* doesn't mean you "like" or would have an abortion yourself. It means you believe it should remain a LEGAL OPTION . It means you think the government shouldn't decide. It means you TRUST women & their Drs to make this decision and not be prosecuted for murder. It means you don't think it's "murder" & therefore miscarriages don't need to be investigated as such. It means the person who the Dr Appt is made for (under HER name, using HER health insurance) can decide with her Dr what's best for her at her Dr. appointment. & that's all.

    • @jeremygarst394
      @jeremygarst394 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since there's an explanation of pro choice here, I'll give one for pro life: it means that you think it is wrong to intentionally kill any innocent human being. That's all the philosophy required. We know because of embryology that preborn children are whole and unique human beings. Abortion kills innocent people to the tune of 1 million per year in the USA alone. Pro life is pro-equality; every life should be protected, regardless of age or ability.

    Beautiful. Love the musical landscape for this tune.
    A song I have found myself listening to over and over for several years is a song called The Morning After by a man called Dominic Balli. Struck a chord in my soul as a mother.
    And I believe this song has done the same.

    • @jeremygarst394
      @jeremygarst394 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The right side of history? You mean the wrong side. Long ago, black people were seen as sub-human, but now their humanity and rights are recognized. Native Americans were seen and treated as non-persons, but now none would dare call them such a thing. Same for women, the mentally ill, etc. The next logical step is to recognize and protect the rights of preborn children.

      That ominous silence is probably a person trying to remember the name of the song on Jason's "The Nashville Sound" that pretty much freaked out the more conservative country music people... the song about living in a white man's world... also the song on there about Amanda's Mercedes and her life before they became a couple. She's talented, smart, beautiful inside and out, and she obviously is a strong woman... ask Elizabeth Cook why she's still trying to get a bigger audience, or ask Dolly if the big tit jokes ever really stopped hurting. BTW, Amanda is right there between Dolly and Elizabeth. Much Love !

    As an avid pro-life person, I didn't want to like this song. But, I can't help it. When I had a choice, I chose life; and I've loved people who didn't. It's painful, it's messy, it's sad, it's all sorts of lifelong emotions. This song really is beautiful and I imagine comforting to someone who has practiced choice. I think more understanding and loving of human beings and less iron fist, megaphone blasting, angry protesting would be a great start to some peace around the issue.
