I hated the way the writers ended Chandler and Kathy's relationship. There was so much buildup, and they had one of the greatest chemistries on the show. They could have had a beautiful storyline, just like Richard and Monica. Instead of making her exit so abrupt and messy, they could have let her go gracefully. The plotline where she cheats on Chandler felt repetitive, especially since they had already explored a similar situation with Janice cheating on him earlier in the show. I wish they had taken a different route, something more bittersweet, like Kate's (Joey's ex-girlfriend) storyline. For example, Kathy could have gotten a big break in her career and had to move to another city or country. They could have shown Chandler and Kathy attempting a long-distance relationship, which eventually doesn’t work out. It would have been more in line with her character and would have given them closure that felt earned. Plus, instead of repeatedly bringing back Janice as a running gag, they could have brought Kathy back in season 10 for one last interaction with Chandler. Imagine her returning as a successful author or actor, and they cross paths just as Chandler is settled into his life with Monica. It could have been such a meaningful moment, reflecting on how far both characters had come.
Agree 100%! It should have lasted longer, and cheating was out of character for her (though Chandler's insecurity about her doing it, wasn't ooc for him).
@monmothma3358 Exactly! Chandler and Kathy would have been great because their relationship brought a refreshing balance to Chandler's character. Unlike his past relationships, which often had a comedic or awkward undertone, Kathy was warm, supportive, and genuinely appreciated Chandler's quirks. They shared a deep emotional connection, and she was one of the few people who saw and accepted him for who he truly was, without trying to change him. What made them different was the chemistry that felt more mature and grounded-Kathy challenged Chandler to open up emotionally, something he struggled with in his earlier relationships. Their dynamic had the potential for growth, vulnerability, and mutual respect, offering a depth that could have added richness to the show.
