  • Richard attended the Rocketry Organization of California (ROC) monthly launch in Lucerne Valley, California at the Lucerne Dry Lake to qualify for his Level 1 high-powered rocketry certification through Tripoli. He flew an I-140W-14A Disposable Motor System (DMS) in a customized LOC EZI-65 rocket kit. It was 3lbs 15.2 oz, 4 inches in diameter, and 57.625" in length.
The ROC is a model and high-power rocketry club based primarily in Southern and Central California.
Watch to get some idea of what to expect on your first rocket launch at the ROC club meet-ups.

Wow. Am I understanding this correctly? This was your FIRST flight... going for a Level 1 cert... with a custom build... on a freaking "I" engine???
Nice flight, and congrats on that accomplishment. Wish I had a field like that.

Haha. Thank you. You could say that the pandemic left me with a lot more time on my hands to research and take my time with it. This desert spot is about 90 minutes away, so yeah, it's fortunate to have this club too that meets here.

So, it's not to qualify for a job, but for the ability to participate in the hobby legally and purchase the motors! 🙂🚀🚀🚀
