The only negative I would give it are the DJ Drama co-signs. Felt random, and unnecessary. My score would be an 8.5, or 9/10! Thanks for reviewing it, Mr. Fantano!
I first heard of jid last summer with his "never" song and I fell in love. His flow is so good. His aggressive lines yet never over doing it are so perfect. He's definitely one of the best lyrical rappers right now. Absolutely love this album.
jid does it again. FAV. TRACKS - SLICK TALK, OFF DEEZ, 151 RUM, OFF DA ZOINKYZ, WORKIN’ OUT. LEAST FAV. TRACK - HOTBOX. JID - DICAPRIO 2 / 2018 / DREAMVILLE / TRAP RAP, HARDCORE HIP HOP, THE TYPE OF SHIT 70 YEAR OLDS WOULD SAY IS BRINGING BACK HIP HOP. 8/10.
I think he gave this a light 8 based on J.I.D potential Because he is above most of his “competitors” and by most I mean he is better that over 90% of his competition. So this album as great as it is it can’t be a 10 because we know J.I.D is capable of so much more and that’s so scary because he is so Grateful already. I’m a go on a limb and say he will go down as one of the top 10 greatest MC’s of all time when it’s all said and done. And to the people making comparisons to Kendrick Lamar or Lil Wayne, I do hear it, but J.I.D does it so much better!!!
I'd give it a strong 7 Like it is excellent lyrically and JID shows talent, but I feel as though it wasn't very unique. It focused more on rapping well and less on being artistic (not a huge amount, but still quite a bit). And also coming out of this project, I didn't really feel like I knew what JID is about and who he is as a person. Sure, it is an album that is kinda meant for being played as a banger, but even in E-40's most recent album (which I listened to on the same day as JID's, and was happy to see that it really is a return to form for him), which is basically meant to be played as a fun, banger album as well, gave me a nice look at E-40 as a character. Basically, my main issue is this album doesn't really grab me onto the persona of JID like The Chronic put me onto Dr Dre, Doggystyle put me onto Snoop Dogg, and the first Eminem album which I listened to, The Eminem Show, put me onto Eminem. The album is an absolute banger, but it slightly lacks the charisma that other albums (such as the ones that I have mentioned above) that are excellent and groundbreaking have. Due to this, I wouldn't give the album a light 8, but a strong 7 due to that extra push of charisma it lacks.
Troy du PLOOY I think that’s what The Never Story was for. For you figure who JID is, so you can capture him as a person and see what it took for him to get where he is now. Like in general he tells his whole life story kind of in that one song and btw I think The Never Story is much better than DiCaprio 2
Because the track isn't put together well at all. And honestly, if you know who JID,6lack, and Ella Mai are then you would expect some amazing shit from them on a track together.

When J.I.D. is better than J.Cole 😲
JID is better than j.cole.
X is way better he would body the whole rap game by singing terribly #LLJ 🙏🏼
Lmao do y’all realize how great that is for Cole
He is? Then how did Cole wax him on Off Deez?
@Sean Austin. lol his second studio album is literally better than any of his albums he's released since 2011.
No, not at all. Get out of it, stan.
Not gonna lie 90% of this statement was true
This album is so great. Been listening to jid since he released the first dicaprio. Great to finally see him getting his recognition
This album is the greatest project I have ever heard in my life.
check out daft punks “get lucky”. sound of the summer
I'd give it a strong 7
Like it is excellent lyrically and JID shows talent, but I feel as though it wasn't very unique.
@@keelowiththesteelo233 I haven't listened to it, but I'll give it a shot
This album lacked depth, but it showed looooots of potential
Troy du PLOOY you’ll like it bro trust me
*How do you think Tiiied is the worst track? It's one of the best produced songs on the album and Ella Mai NAILED it*
Its a lot of people's worst track as well.
It’s bogged down by pop
Because the track isn't put together well at all. And honestly, if you know who JID,6lack, and Ella Mai are then you would expect some amazing shit from them on a track together.
If you look at Tiied on youtube people actually think six lack saved that song, its hilarious
How the fuck is Just da Other Day not in best tracks
earl’s new album finna be a 10/10
